As part of Wegmans’ 2021 Back To Happy campaign, this third and final part of their series of adverts places a core emphasis on not just good food being served around the table and the values of family. But rather, the core values of community and caring for our neighbors with good deeds and kind actions.
And after 3 whole days of fake snow being pumped through hoses, countless takes of Christmas lights to fall perfectly, and a table crowded with good food courtesy of Wegmans. Wegmans did not create an advertisement about food, but rather, a story of one child’s selfless act of giving that perfectly encapsulates the name, logo and mission of Wegmans with their advert titled Little Helper.
The advert begins in a typical suburban neighborhood we all know and love before we are introduced to our Little Helper of the story. A young boy doing what appears to be some household chores in his home. Raking leaves into a pile as he waves to his good friends before a gust of wind undoes his hard work. All while a cat sitting by his window is just watching at his demise without a care in the world.
But that did not deter him from his duties. He continues to do his best by making the front of his house looking the part of a great household by taking out the trash (with great strength and effort), bringing in the daily mail, and flowers he dragged on a wagon all the way from the store to the front of his house.
Come Christmas season, he immediately shifts to the next step of his duties to hang up a hundred feet of Christmas lights all across the front of his house. Not bothered by being tangled up in the process and manages to perfectly set up the lights to light the entire porch up at night time.
Christmas day arrives, and the dining table is crowded with plates filled with great food and drink. Plates piled high with meat upon meat, bowls filled to the brim with mashed potatoes and jugs fully stocked in gravy. As everybody settles down and digs into their delicious meal, the young boy zips around the table to pile his portion high with a generous amount of food. Shortly after, he makes a mad dash to the freezing outdoors as his family members watch him go with confusion on their faces.
We immediately come to find out that the house he has been maintaining is not his home at all. But rather, an elderly neighbor of his as he hands over his plate of food as her Christmas dinner.
Wegmans has never ceased to impress all of us here with their touching adverts of caring for the people around us. But. We think that Little Helper is definitely the best one of the bunch!
