1Please give us a brief bio of yourself and your creative background.

My name is Jian Sun, founder of SunDesign. I used to work in the 2008 Olympic emblem design team and Japan Dentsu Corporation. I formed a unique design concept and style in the duality between brand design and advertising creation.

I won multiple design awards in Europe, Oceania, Asia and the United States, which include the German Red Dot Award, German iF Design Award, American IDEA Design Award, Asian Design Award, Italian Design Award, Australian Good Design Award, German National Design Award, etc.

2What made you become/why did you choose to become a creative?

My grandmother was a teacher and I started painting after I was born. My father worked as an engineer in the army and was very interested in design when he was very young.

3Tell us more about your business/company, job profile, and what you do.

SunDesign was established in Beijing in 2014. SunDesign Brand Design (Beijing) Ltd. brings international modern brief design to brands.We hope to create more brands of unique features together with their partners by virtue of its accurate grasp of brand, design accuracy, and international viewpoint of eastern and western culture.To improve its reputation in worldwide, we cooperate with large national enterprises. We design many brand images for international brands.

4What does “creativity” mean to you?

We pay more attention to the efficiency and quality of the works so that our customers can find a place in the market. We can do more. We work together on research, creativity and design execution.

5To you, what makes a “creative” idea and/or design?

I want to be able to focus on design research. I like what I do, and sometimes it is difficult, but it is fine as long as the results can bring achievement and satisfaction.

6 Tell us about your creative and/or design process.

I like to think alone, sometimes at home, sometimes at a coffee shop, sometimes at the company. I like to come up with ideas before designing and then executing the design.

7Describe your creative style and its main characteristics.

I like natural materials, as my understanding of environmental protection innovation gives unremitting efforts for me to design more good works, and integrate traditional culture into my design.

8Do you think your country and its cultural heritage has an impact on your creativity process?

Yes, the packaging I design was inspired by a story in China.

9Congratulations! As the winner of the 2020 MUSE Creative Awards, what does it mean to you and your company and team to receive this award distinction?

I am very happy to receive the 2020 MUSE Award. Thanks for the recognition of my work. For me, I will work harder and design better to improve myself.

10Can you explain a bit about the winning work you entered into the 2020 MUSE Creative Awards, and why you chose to enter this project?

This book is Wu Yuanxin's masterpiece. He is a master craftsman and the national heir to blue calico. He spent 5 years in 21 provinces, cities, and autonomous regions. It has collected more than 40 years of collection and research results, and created an integration of printing and dyeing patterns of heavyweight Chinese handicrafts. Books record, research and restore the technology of blue calico.

11How has winning an Award developed your practice/career?

Awards can bring recognition in the industry, and better help customers enhance brand image and influence.

13What makes your country specifically, unique in the creative industry?

China has 5000 years of culture, and each brand has strong characteristics.

14Where do you see the evolution of creative industry going over the next 5-10 years?

China is facing new challenges. The Internet platform is more convenient for human consumption, but at the same time it requires offline experience store configuration.

15If you were a student entering this industry or an aspiring MUSE Creative Awards submitter, what advice would you give them?

First of all, you must have some of your best work ready, and then you must understand the award rules.

16What resources would you recommend to someone who wants to improve their skills in the creative industry?

More communication and communication.

17Tell us something you have never told anyone else.
