Interview with the 2018 Muse Creative Awards Winner - Michelle Walshe

1First, tell us about yourself, your company, job profile, etc.
Michelle Walshe – CEO of Augusto Group.
2Tell us a bit about your business and what you do.
We work with businesses to help them build audiences and connect with their customers through video, design, and technology. This takes on many forms from traditional advertising and brand work to more complex content-based strategies and platform creation. Where ever possible we try to shorten the gap between the thinking and the making to allow for a more collaborative and iterative approach to creative. Incredibly though, it’s also faster and our clients feel like they have greater oversight of the process. We also make feature films, documentaries, and TV shows through our entertainment unit, which allows us to attract and retain amazing talent.
3Where do you see the evolution of creative industry going over the next 5-10 years?
We assume that our business, like most creative businesses, will undergo quite substantial change every three years or so. The next change we’re anticipating and readying ourselves for is the integration of artificial intelligence and robotics into what we do. Technology will continue to disrupt not just the making, but eventually, the thinking too.
4What makes your country specifically, unique in the creative industry?
New Zealand has a reputation for punching above its weight creatively. I think our geography has a lot to do with this. We’re a small market, a long way from the rest of the world which make us value the opportunity to export. It also means we look for creative influence from all corners of the globe which gives our work wide appeal.
5Finally, what is your key to success?
Being truly invested in the outcomes of what we create. Wanting the result as much as our clients do.
