1Please give us a brief bio of yourself, your company, job profile, etc.
I am the Vice President of Firebelly where I oversee social media marketing initiatives for clients. I joined the team in 2007 as a social media manager. Prior to my work at Firebelly I produced a TV show and was the founder of the Indianapolis Underground Film Festival that showcased under-the-radar films from up-and-coming directors for 4 years.
2Tell us a bit about your business and what you do.
Firebelly is a social media marketing agency that’s been making brands more likable and profitable via social media since the Myspace days.
3Congratulations! As the winner of the 2019 Muse Awards, what does it mean to you and your company and team to receive this award distinction?
Thanks! It’s exciting for us to see our small (but mighty) agency to be recognized as winners among such giants in the industry.
4Can you explain a bit about the winning work you entered into the 2019 Muse Awards, and why you chose to enter this project?
Noble Roman’s Craft Pizza & Pub has been an incredible brand to work with. It’s refreshing to work with a company that genuinely cares about making their guests’ experiences on social media as amazing as they aim to provide in their restaurants—allowing us to do good work that made a difference and moved the needle in the right direction.
5What was the biggest challenge with this project?
Instagram algorithm updates! Just when you think you understand the “formula” for success, it changes and it’s time to reevaluate your approach.
6How has winning an Award developed your practice/career?
Winning an award is a great confidence boost for the team. Perhaps more importantly though, it provides a confidence boost to clients and prospects. People like working with winners.
7If you were a student entering this industry or an aspiring Muse Award submitter, what advice would you give them?
Be flexible—the only constant is change. Just when you think you know it all, there’s more to learn. It’s part of what I love about working in this industry.
8What is your key to success? Any parting words of wisdom?
Don’t set out to win awards—set out to solve problems. Good things will come your way if you create solutions that address the concerns of your clients and their customers.
9Do you have anything else you would like to add to the interview?
Congrats to all of the other winners! You better believe I’ve been looking at all of the other winning entries for inspiration.
