My name is Britta Schwalm, and I am a goldsmith with a passion for unique jewelry and sustainability. I completed my goldsmith training with top honors and hold a degree in Communication Design. Since 2003, I have been running BrittasSchmiede, where I create pieces that are not only beautiful but also environmentally conscious.

I established BrittasSchmiede in 2003, driven by my love for creating meaningful, handcrafted jewelry. The idea for Glückskind® - the ring with the baby inside - was born from a desire to celebrate life's precious moments through unique, personalized pieces that tell a story.

Glückskind® is inspired by the joy and wonder of new beginnings. The collection symbolizes the profound bonds between parents and their children, capturing moments of love and connection.
BrittasSchmiede is known for its unique jewelry and upcycling practices. My inspiration comes from the desire to create beautiful, meaningful pieces while minimizing environmental impact. I use recycled gold and offer custom designs that incorporate personal stories and memories. Each piece, like our Glückskind® rings, is designed to be a timeless keepsake that carries personal significance.
4Whom are your brand’s target audiences?
Our target audience includes individuals who appreciate unique, handcrafted jewelry with a story. Glückskind® appeals to parents, grandparents, and anyone looking to celebrate life's special moments with a piece that holds deep personal meaning. The ring can even provide comfort if a baby is stillborn, so our audience are although orphaned parents.

Glückskind® stands out for its unique design. The hidden baby is absolutely unique. And there are personalization options like engravings and precious gemstones. We plan to expand the Glückskind® collection with new designs - as "Twisted", the ring that was awarded with iLuxury Award - while maintaining our focus on sustainability. In the past decade, there has been a significant shift from industrially produced jewelry towards the desire to have jewelry made according to personal ideas. There was a change towards sustainability and ethical practices in the jewelry industry. Consumers are increasingly looking for brands that prioritize environmental responsibility and offer personalized, meaningful pieces.
