Situated amongst the clearings of Madeira Island is Monumental Residences, a mind-blowing development from the hands and minds of António Fernandez Architects. Initially sprouting from a trailblazing idea to remodel the island filled with vegetable gardens and banana trees with modern elements into a voguish city, the developers have managed to turn their ambitions into reality.
Uniquely design with four blocks shaped curvilinearly, the backstory behind the blueprints are to express the irregularity of an island that is sculpted by nature. In the creation of an isolated island into a spot for tourist attractions, the Monumental Residences are surrounded by rugged stone coastline, projecting towards the infinite ocean of vast realities.

Heading in a whole other direction as the previous winners, The Star Map is built on a complete idealogy for the younger generations. The developer, Karv One Design, labels youngsters who contribute towards a whole new era of consumption with highly personalized enthusiasm as “The Generation Undefined”. Under the theme of “Start Map Culture Hub”, the architecture itself is merged with a new commercial scene of “day coffee night alcohol”, signifying the freedom of having coffee when awake, and the consumption of alcohol at night, giving off the ambience of youth.
The concept also sees the placement of a planet shrouded in mysteries, to link viewers with space through visualized memories. This sculpture of a planet is a take on the map of the younger generations, as teenagers are well versed in urban culture and the liveliness vitality of the society.

The implementations of nature into the designs of properties are everlasting, and that brings the FY Humanities Memorial Park and its’ conceptual designs of being “Life Islands”. In accordance to the natural and ecological scenery of Fuyang, bits of nature can be seen intertwining with the project site, while they are redefined with contemporary processes. Normally, when it comes to excessive stacking, some individuals will experience discomfort and anxiety, which are all abolished in the project as they are combined naturally with the surroundings.
The FY Humanities Memorial Park is also encompassed by different variations of plants, taking into account the texture of flora to reach the goal of landscape enrichment. As “Life Islands”, the project is meant to establish a lifestyle of rhythm and the beauty of the afterlife.
