Take a trip down memory lane in Ford’s colorful racing history and passion in the Henry Ford Musuem of American Innovation’s Fueled by Passion!
What can be said about Ford? The Fueled by Passion exhibit can be found in the newest exhibition in the museum, Driven to Win: Racing in America presented by General Motors. An exhibit with the sole purpose of displaying the illustrious American motor racing history. Displaying some of the most historic high-performance race-cars of the century that broke multiple records around the world.
Inside the Fueled by Passion exhibit is shaped exactly to the dimension of a standard racing safety helmet typically found in all forms of motor racing. Complete with the finer details such as the lines that light up with the colors of the Star-Spangled Banner and the rivets holding the visor to the helmet where it acts as a screen.
Once you have taken your seat in the exhibit, and strapped yourself into the bucket-style racing seats, you are then treated to a 15-minute, energetic sensory experience of what these athletes perform in the sport where every moment can become a fatal one. Thanks to the shape of the exhibit making you feel like you are wearing a helmet, you are treated to a first-person view of the sights, sounds, and movement of 1,000+ horsepower monsters achieving top speeds of over 200 miles per hour. To make the experience an even more immersive one, Fueled by Passion employs the use of over 78 individually-tuned speakers pointed directly at the top of the heads of every single guest. Letting them hear everything from the deafening roar and low rumble of the iron-block engines and forged pistons hammering to the radio chatter of the pit crew giving orders.
