Just like many businesses across the United States, the Perot Museum has also gone through its fair share of hardships faced during its lockdown at the height of the Covid-19 pandemic. It is also a similar situation for educational institutions like schools as well. Not only being separated away from their friends and mentors, but also missing out the opportunity to visit other places to augment their learning experiences and help them find their passion.
In partnership with the world-renowned Groove Jones, the new leadership at the Perot Musuem of Nature and Science have created an interactive and bilingual learning experience that allows children from grades 3-5 to 6-8 to develop their interests in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics). As well as also serving as a great stepping stone for both parties to learn each other’s’ languages at the same time!
The Whynauts is a 10episode series developed by the Perot Foundation, the Lamar Hunt Family, Lyda Hill Philanthropies’ IF/THEN fund at Texas Women’s Foundation, and PetroCap. Each episode covers a new and interesting topic in STEM made for all learning levels. With episodes ranging from paleontology, how the human works and operates, geology and the natural phenomena that occurs around us, and even down to the molecular level!
Throughout the entirety of the series, we are brought on an virtual adventure by three of our ecstatic hosts and travelling across different parts of the universe and time periods through their Whynauts Quadcopter and Imagination Station to explore these different environments and discovering the inner workings of the natural world around us.
The best part of The Whynauts learning experience is that it is also an bilingual course that can be taken by other students as well to help further their future careers into the STEM field. Additionally, the choice of having the experience be narrated in both languages also helps augments the children’s linguistic skills in different languages and enabling them to easily communicate with each other in each other’s preferred language of choice.
If you are a school teacher who had to cancel a school trip to an educational establishment or landmark because of a certain world-ending disease, give your class a learning experience that they definitely enjoy and register at the official The Whynauts page here!
