Bottle Rocket Media recently teamed up with Basis Technologies to launch the "Golden Age of Advertising" campaign at Adweek NYC 2024 which propelled them to victory in the recent 2024 Vega Digital Awards under the Video / Online Video (Single) - Business to Business category. The inspiration that the project set out was to evoke the spirit of classic advertising culture from the 1940s through the 1960s, drawing inspiration from vintage aesthetics and the artistic approach of that period.
This collaborative approach brought a distinct appeal to the current modern advertising automation platform, highlighting the power of nostalgia as a means to captivate audiences in such a competitive market.
Working closely with Basis Technologies' in-house marketing team led by CMO Katie McAdams, Bottle Rocket Media took a script and set of concepts and transformed them into a visually fascinating narrative. To enhance further the concepts for the campaign, Director Jessica Batson was selected as the key person to lend her artistic vision. Her contribution played a crucial role that established the perfect tone for the campaign.
The video was made as a hero video, typically placed content on websites, landing pages, or even billboards to grab attention and convey a brand's message which in turn encourages engagement. The hero video produced for the campaign featured a vintage feel while delivering a contemporary message. The video premiered across a wide range of platforms, including streaming services, digital out-of-home placements, and targeted online spots. During Adweek, digital displays throughout Manhattan featured additional video assets that ensured the campaign's message echoed throughout the city.
The campaign's creative approach featured vintage images, classic typography, and iconic advertising boards featured prominently during the golden era of advertising. This careful attention to design detail draws the viewer into a world where old-world sophistication using modern business acumen. The project's effectiveness in drawing on the past to enhance present-day advising strategies is what made this entry an honored winner of the Vega Digital Awards.
