What do chemistry, alchemy and brewing beers have in common? All three disciplines are a study of chemicals interacting and reacting with each other and creating an entirely new compound. Watching one volatile ingredient be cancelled out by a more stable one to create a perfect equilibrium. And observing what properties both sides take from each other, and what it gives back in return.
Wanting to honor the number of microbreweries spanning across Portugal responsible for the creation of the Companhia União Fabril Portuense (CUFP), Super Bock went all out to create a limited-edition run of dark lager beers brewed in Super Bock’s very first brewery site for this collector’s edition! Even better, Omdesign also stepped in to create a cinematic ad spot that details the entire manufacturing process of this must-have beer for special occasions!
In the advert, we are first greeted by a mural of two individuals brewing the first malt alcohol beverage in Portugal found in the first-ever brewing facility by Super Bock. We are then treated to the sight of ingredients comprised of various malts and hops used to brew this exclusive run of dark lager in copper boilers and then to the final process of barrel aging to enhance the taste and aromas. We also get a glimpse for the design, manufacturing and bottling of the beer with the equally-desirable glass bottle in the collector’s edition before being sealed by wax and stamped with Super Bock’s Logo.
Additionally, we also get to see the process of artisans crafting the box and packaging from scratch as well. The box is made from cork with words burned into the porous wood with the words ‘Super Bock Collector’s Edition’ with paper doors opening up to reveal the bottle and a description on the inside stamped with gold foil that details the history of the company and the process of creating this exclusive beer blend.
The packaging does not only hold the bottle of exclusive beer! Included in the collector’s edition is two stemmed beer glasses widely used by beer connoisseurs worldwide. Expertly crafted to maintain the foamy head at the rim of the glass and trapping the aromas for a rich burst of flavor with every sip.
A bottle meant for special occasions, to share, or to drink all alone on your own and contemplate on every topic imaginable. Super Bock has created a vessel that is worthy of celebrating Portugal’s dozens of microbreweries!
