We’ve had our fair share of beach resorts featured on this site recently. After all, who doesn’t love the feeling of walking barefoot in the sandy beaches and letting your thoughts drift away to the sounds of ocean waves gently crashing against the shoreline?
Continuing our streak in featuring some of the best beach resorts and retreats for your next vacation destination, our next one takes us to the coastline of South Africa and rest our heads at the Days At Sea Beach Lodge built right in front of the Indian Ocean!
Two years in the making and now open to the public, the Days At Sea Beach Lodge is created from concept to final product by Dr. Guido Schoeldgen and his wife Annette. After their celebrated careers in photography and in the fashion industry respectively, Guido and Annette shifted their interests to creating a one-of-a-kind getaway beach retreat away from the city lights and sounds.
The Days At Sea Beach Lodge houses a total of only five (5) designer suites with each room have their own unique names. The Umkhomo Honeymoon Suite for newlyweds to spend their first unforgettable moments together, the Inkawu, Inyoni and Ufudu suites for everyone to enjoy their beach holidays, and finally the Artists Retreat.
Each one of these suites is meticulously designed with heavy influences from European architecture and interior design stemming from the background and experiences of Guido and Annette. Seen clearly in all aspects of each suite and taking a page from ancient and modern designs to combine them together flawlessly. Making each and every room a completely different and magical world.
A trip to the in-house spa will also do wonders for your tightly-knotted muscles and joints. As you lay down in the middle of the tropical garden with exotic plants where monkeys play together and birds singing with each other, you will melt your pains away as you gaze deeply into the ceiling painting of Christopher Lorenz’s depiction of the former pride of Hemingway’s in Cape Town.
But what’s a vacation in the beach without taking a stroll down the sandy shores? Dig your feet and bury them in the sand as you watch the whales and dolphins swim in the warm waters of the Indian Ocean while you cool off with health drinks from Guido’s Bar or Frangipani Lounge. All while you take in the untouched beauty of that is safe, clean, and protected from development.
