A beautiful blend of 2D horror, 90s cartoon art style, and the very embodiment of the developer and your nightmares. Portable Moose’s solo debut in the horror game scene rings so many bells right in an indie horror title on the PlayStation platform!
Sally Face is an episodic 2D side-scroller metroidvania horror game that follows the misadventures of Sal and his friends, and a dark shadow is looming over the neighborhood causing sinister happenings to occur within their apartment. And with the power of your very own Gearboy handheld games console, it is up to you and your friends to uncover these dark secrets and happenings!
The game also follows the tragic story of Sal’s tragic backstory and his disfigurement from a young age, and the true reason of wearing a prosthetic face mask to hide his injuries.
The visuals are heavily influenced by the old cartoons that we are all too familiar with growing up in the 90s. And the disturbing caricatures are the representations of both your nightmares and Portable Moose’s are moments in the game that will make the hairs on the back of your neck stand.
There is also an element of mystery and times of intimacy as you use your trusty Gearboy handheld games console as a bridge to the land of the dead and speak with the deceased souls of those before you.
