Anna Foix, a computer engineer from Lleida, Spain, turned her passion for photography into a professional journey in 2017, earning accolades in international contests and exhibiting her work widely. Through her art, she aims to inspire and contribute to charitable causes, using her images to make a meaningful impact.
My name is Anna Foix and I am from Lleida, Spain. I'm a computer engineer, and I dedicate myself to programming, photography, nature, and spirituality are my passions. I'm currently dedicated to photography professionally. I have always liked photography, but it was in 2017 that I began to become passionate about it. At first, I took photos on my own that I already liked, but I didn't know the technique well, I took them manually and kept trying until I found the result I wanted.
In April 2017 I went to a photography workshop, that was where I was motivated to learn everything I could about photography so I could get the image I wanted without having to do many tests but knowing the camera settings well.
Since then I have trained from the initial level, through advanced and master's, also taking specific courses. I've got several reports that have been published in the local press as well as winning local and international photography contests and have held several exhibitions.
I studied photography in Catalonia with Spanish photographers.
Initially, I started with various landscapes in Spain, and then I studied beginner and advanced digital photography, ending with a master's degree in professional photography in 2017. I've also taken courses with Spanish photographers and attended workshops.
I bought my first camera, a Nikon Reflex when my eldest son was born in 2007 and I took my first photo of him.
Seven years ago I switched to Mirrorless and started working with the Sony Alpha 7. As I am passionate about birds, I work a lot with the Sony 200-600 telephoto lens. For macro I use the Sony 50mm macro, for trips like India I use the Sony 18-200mm zoom.
I would like to be able to collaborate with the awards I receive with my photographs to those who need them for example, with this photograph that received the Silver Winner at the New York Photography Awards, I would like to win a prize with which I can collaborate with the Vicente Ferrer Association and help the children like the one I show in my photograph.
When they thank me for being able to see things they would never have noticed before, and when they tell me that they would spend hours looking at one of my photos. Being able to show my particular vision inspires me a lot.
On the one hand, the wonder of nature is so perfect and precious, even if it is a tiny flower that grows on the side of a road. On trips like the one to India, it is being able to capture what I feel when changing to a culture and country so different from mine, being able to share the inner growth that I do through my photographs. I've also enjoyed helping other photographers connect with nature.
Thank you so much! For me, this distinction is a great honor and a contribution to the launch of my professional career.
For me, nature is the part of photography that I am most passionate about. In this case, the photo is a flamingo. I find these birds fascinating, and I spend hours and hours observing them, discovering their movements and their stylized postures.
I saw this flamingo alone and isolated while I was doing a photography session in my favorite area near where I live, the Ebro Delta. I immediately stopped the car and quickly and in the utmost silence I prepared my photographic equipment.
When I took the photo and saw the photo on the screen, I was moved and tears were falling, then the flamingo woke up and began to walk around. It was beautiful, and I was able to enjoy looking at it and taking some more photos.
Each award you win gives you a boost and validation of your work, and is a great motivation to continue sharing the photographs that I love so much when I take them.
Some of my teachers like Eduardo Blanco Mendizabal and Gus Geijo.
That light is the most important thing and always take care of the details.
Before starting to take photographs, connect with yourself and your surroundings, and from that state begin to enjoy photography showing your personality, not wanting to look like someone else.
Be myself from my essence. Enjoy the present and the wonders that nature offers us.
I’m always open to receiving new knowledge, to learning from those who have already followed a previous path and can share their experiences.
Thank the organizers and judges of this photography contest for choosing my photograph as a winner.
