1Please give us a brief bio of yourself and your design background.
As a brand, BELDORA is dedicated to creating highly effective skincare solutions. Our design philosophy revolves around innovation, practicality, and versatility, ensuring that each product not only enhances skincare results but also offers an exceptional visual experience. We firmly believe that design is not just about external packaging; it is an extension of the product experience, allowing users to feel the unique value of the product through its visual appeal, texture, and effectiveness.
2What made you become/why did you choose to become a designer/artist?

Our original intention in product design is to simplify the skincare process, making beauty both efficient and uncompromising. The market is flooded with complex skincare or makeup steps, and we aim to break this boundary by creating a product that meets skincare needs while saving time.

We believe that design is not just an expression of aesthetics but a way to solve problems. Therefore, we chose to combine effective skincare and makeup with innovative design, allowing everyone to easily achieve healthy and beautiful skin.

3Tell us more about your agency/company, job profile, and what you do.
BELDORA is built on the core value of "efficiency in skincare" and is the skincare brand of choice for designers at the Paris and New York Fashion Weeks. Our team, composed of designers and marketing professionals, is dedicated to providing customers with truly effective and highly satisfying beauty products. From ingredient selection and formula development to packaging design, every detail is meticulously tested and optimised to ensure that each product delivers an exceptional experience.
4What does “design” mean to you?
Design is the fusion of aesthetics and functionality, as well as the art of problem-solving. For us, design is not just a visual delight; it should enhance the skincare experience and deliver real results. We believe that a good design should capture attention at first sight while providing convenience and pleasure during use. It is this belief that drives us to continually challenge tradition and create efficient products that meet the needs of the modern world.
5What’s your favorite kind of design and why?

We have a particular passion for designs that combine eye-catching aesthetics with practicality. The bottle design of our Aurora CC Cream is inspired by the aurora, symbolising radiance and elegance while also incorporating high-performance skincare and sun protection technology.

We believe that beauty should not only be about external appearance but also about the confidence that comes from within. Through the bottle design, which reflects the aurora, we aim to offer users not just a visual delight but also a sense of trust and anticipation in the skincare benefits.

6To you, what makes a “good” design?
A good design should be intuitive, visually appealing, and highly effective, allowing users to experience real value. We believe that a successful design must have three key elements: functionality—capable of truly solving problems; aesthetics—delivering a pleasant visual experience; and innovation—breaking the boundaries of the market to provide an unprecedented user experience. These principles are the core guiding direction in our product design process.
7How did you come up with the idea for your award-winning design?

We believe that the most beautiful women are those who radiate confidence. That’s why we have thoughtfully created the "Aurora CC Cream," a product that combines functionality, aesthetics, and innovative concepts, allowing women to quickly and efficiently complete their makeup routine and radiate independent, elegant, and confident beauty.

Through light and shadow reflection, it creates the perfect complexion for women. The packaging design continues the concept of confidence and radiance, showcasing the dazzling aurora through the bottle; the cap features a diamond-cut visual concept, highlighting both the glow and the brand’s diamond logo elements.

We observed that modern consumers have diverse beauty needs when they go out, which cannot always be satisfied by a single product. As a result, we created a product that meets multiple needs at once, incorporating thoughtful design to make it a perfect blend of practicality and aesthetics.

8What was your main source of inspiration for this design?

The design inspiration comes from the aurora, with its dazzling light that reveals unique and delicate beauty from every angle. Just like women, each with their own distinct beauty, we aim to help women radiate confidence and glow anytime and anywhere through the intelligent light-adjusting technology of the Aurora CC Cream.

The design concept of this CC cream is to upgrade the typical primer into a high-performance, perfect product, emphasising top-tier skincare benefits, complexion correction, and sun protection. The overlapping "CC" not only symbolises the seamless fusion of makeup and skincare functions but also highlights how the CC cream meets the dual needs of modern individuals for both a flawless makeup look and skin care.

9Do you think your country and its cultural heritage has an impact on your design process?
Absolutely. Taiwan's innovation in the skincare field has gained international recognition, and our design philosophy is deeply influenced by Taiwan's culture of pursuing high-quality, efficient, and multifunctional products. Our brand philosophy is based on the Taiwanese values of striving for efficiency and a refined lifestyle, designing products that are both highly effective and aesthetically pleasing, perfectly aligned with the fast-paced nature of modern life.
10Congratulations! As the winner of the French Design Awards, what does it mean to you and your company and team to receive this award distinction?
This award is not only an honour but also a recognition of our commitment to innovation and excellence. For the BELDORA brand, our company, and our team, it is the greatest affirmation and reinforces our vision of providing high-quality, high-efficiency skincare solutions. We hope that the efforts of our brand will be seen by the world, allowing more people to discover Taiwan’s brands and get to know BELDORA.
11Can you explain a bit about the winning work you entered into the French Design Awards, and why you chose to enter this project?
The Aurora CC Cream is our entry, as it perfectly embodies our brand mission. This product combines hydration, colour correction, and top-level sun protection, making it simple and efficient to use when going out. Through this product, we hope to showcase to the world our unique perspective on beauty and makeup design.
12What were the main challenges you faced during the design process, and how did you overcome them?

One of the main challenges we faced during the design process was achieving the best performance in each function—efficient skincare, optimal colour correction, and top-level sun protection technology—all at once. We wanted every detail to meet practical needs while enhancing the sensory experience for users. To overcome this challenge, we made multiple design adjustments and worked closely with a professional team, repeatedly testing and optimising until we found the perfect balance.

Another challenge was fully realising the design concept. From design, ingredients, printing, filling to packaging, we had to coordinate with various suppliers repeatedly to ensure that each phase of the process met our expectations perfectly.

13How do you think winning this award will impact your future as a designer?

Winning this award will further elevate the brand’s professional standing in the field of design, especially in the area of efficient skincare product design. The team’s design of the Aurora CC Cream not only reflects innovative thinking but also combines skincare, colour correction, and sun protection technology, creating a completely new product concept.

This honour will inspire the brand to continue launching more products that combine high-performance functionality with exquisite design, allowing more people to benefit from the fusion of technology and aesthetics.

14What are your top three (3) favorite things about the design industry?

In our industry, the three things we love most are:

Firstly, the ability to use design to give products more functionality, like the Aurora CC Cream, which combines skincare, colour correction, and sun protection in one.

Secondly, the beauty industry gives us the opportunity to integrate technology, innovation, and aesthetics to create groundbreaking solutions.

Lastly, we love designing products that directly improve people's daily lives. For example, the design of the Aurora CC Cream is aimed at enhancing users' skin texture and providing daily protection.

15What sets your design apart from others in the same category?

We focus on combining functionality with aesthetics while maintaining practicality through innovation. Every design takes into account the user’s needs and emotional experience, rather than just the outward appearance. We strive to ensure that each product offers a unique visual and sensory appeal while providing true practical value.

What sets the Aurora CC Cream design apart from other similar products is that, in addition to emphasising skincare and colour correction, it focuses on how the product can not only function as makeup but also provide all-day skincare. The selected skincare ingredients are specifically designed to repair and protect against sun damage, while the intelligent light-adjusting technology ensures the best colour-correcting effect!

It is also paired with top-level sun protection, allowing users to immediately and confidently go out after application. This innovative design concept allows users to enjoy a flawless makeup look while feeling the benefits of all-day skin protection.

16Where do you see the evolution of design industry going over the next 5-10 years?
We believe that in the next 5 to 10 years, the design industry will place even more emphasis on the multifunctionality and intelligence of products, especially in the skincare and beauty sectors. With the advancement of technology, we will see more innovative designs featuring smart skincare technology, where design goes beyond aesthetics to provide users with real, tangible benefits.
17What advice do you have for aspiring designers who want to create award-winning designs?
For aspiring designers who want to create award-winning designs, we recommend being bold in innovation and daring to challenge tradition. Continuously learn and push boundaries, develop a global perspective, and stay updated on various trends. Designers should also explore cross-disciplinary collaborations and innovation, as this will allow them to stand out in a competitive field.
18What resources would you recommend to someone who wants to improve their skills in the design industry?

We would recommend books like Design Thinking and online design courses, which can help improve both technical skills and creative thinking. Additionally, attending design exhibitions and networking events is an excellent way to gain inspiration from other designers' works.

At the same time, I suggest that designers engage in cross-disciplinary collaborations, as this can spark even more innovative ideas. For example, the design of the Aurora CC Cream came from integrating skincare, makeup, and protection technologies through a multifaceted approach.

19Who has inspired you in your life and why?
One of our favourite quotes is, "Your smile will make the world a better place." We hope to create products that women around the world will love and be satisfied with, products that will help them radiate confidence and shine after use.
20What is your key to success? Any parting words of wisdom?
The key to success lies in the continuous pursuit of innovation and the perfect integration of high-performance functionality with aesthetics. The design concept of the Aurora CC Cream is based on this core idea: finding the optimal balance between skincare, colour correction, and sun protection, delivering an unprecedented experience to users. Design should not only be beautiful but also effective.
21Do you have anything else you would like to add to the interview?
We hope this interview will help more people understand that the Aurora CC Cream is not just a simple cosmetic but a multifunctional product that combines high-performance skincare, optimal colour correction, and top-tier sun protection technology.
