From weaving in between cover to cover under heavy enemy fire to doing cargo deliveries in your GM truck across continents. There’s nothing like firing up your console and booting up your preferred game of choice and let reality drift away and you begin to immerse yourself in the virtual world.
This week, we are once again revisiting the 2022 selection of judges from our friends over at the NYX Game Awards. However, instead of the serious and stoic industry experts, we’ve invited a bunch of YouTubers to be part of the Grand Jury Panel this year. So let’s give these fantastic creators a warm NYX welcome!
Before pursuing a career of playing video games, Justin Patrascu started out as a developer for Mindgeek and overlooks their automated testing side of things. Right after that, he moved on up to become a full-time developer for Siveco. While he wasn’t crunching numbers and scrolling through lines upon lines of code, he made a hobby of creating his YouTube channel, BestGamesJustin, and uploading videos during the weekends.
Which brings us to today, Justin has now left his job as a developer and has commited to running his YouTube channel full-time and covers a wide variety of content. Ranging from let’s plays of games from all genres such as sports, shooters, RPGs, strategy, action adventure and more, patch notes and updates from other games, and news coverage in the video game industry from time to time.
Additionally, Justin is also the first YouTuber on this list to be officially inducted into the Grand Jury Panel of the 2022 NYX Game Awards. Welcome aboard, Justin! We’re glad to have you here!
Being an avid gamer for as long as Luke Wild has developed the ability to walk from a very young age, Luke started his gaming YouTube channel a few years ago to channel his accumulated years of passion and gaming experience into something productive. And thus, Star or Shovelware is born!
Entirely dedicated to the Nintendo Switch platform, Star or Shovelware exclusively covers reviews on releases titles that are released on the Switch and nothing else! Digging deep into the minor details of each and every game in search of perfection as well as indie titles and small games with quirky mechanics and features. All while he gives his brutally-honest opinions and clear disdain to recycled assets in games.
Luke Wild is also known by his less-than-nicer nickname, ‘Sardonic Pale Brit’. Which comes as a result of being holed up in a dark room to play video games all day and having a dead-pan sense of humor. Despite this, he’s already made his presence known in the NYX Game Awards Grand Jury Panel and we are proud to welcome him on board!
cublikefoot is one of the most prolific independent content creators in the gaming scene. Being a gamer at heart, he has played every major release that has come out for over twenty years of all genres and posting reviews both short and long on his YouTube channel, cublikefoot, named after himself.
While he has played some big-name AAA games from globally-recognized publishers, he has a special place in heart and a fondness for lesser-known indie titles on the PC exported from the land of the rising sun, Japan.
Today, cub continues to run the cublikefoot YouTube channel since 2011, and publishes written reviews both short- and long-form on his own website under the same name as a freelance writer. The NYX Game Awards is glad to have cub join the Grand Jury Panel and having him bring his years of expertise to the table on the next best game out there!
Like all of us, Maria is also a serious gamer at heart and uploads video essay-style content on her YouTube channel since 2018. However, not in a way that you might expect!
Rather than digging deep into the mechanics of the game and put them under a microscope to critique, this Kojima-phile puts her focus squarely on graphical fidelity and aesthetics of the video games that she plays. With some of her favorites being the camp-style artwork of the Bayonetta games to the Giallo-inspired experience done by none other than Capcom’s forgotten horror title of Haunting Ground. She has a keen eye in video game aesthetic design and artwork and she shares her thoughts on how these virtual worlds execute their concepts flawlessly.
Today, Maria still runs her YouTube channel under the moniker of eurothug4000. While she isn’t too busy editing her next magnus opus, she is also a freelance writer and streams some of her favorite games and brings herself closer with other communities and interacting with them. Maria is also bringing her expertise in game art design to the Grand Jury Panel for NYX Game Awards’ 2022 year, too. We’re glad to have you here, Maria!
Whether you have been in the industry since the birth of video games or a casual gamer who want to get away from your personal responsibilities for a little bit, what we have in common is our love and passion for video games both indie and AAA release! If you’ve got the aptitude (and experience, of course), come nominate yourself or a fellow industry peer to be part of the NYX Game Awards Grand Jury Panel today!
