Q.C. & Industrial Innovation Product Designer
Juror of London Design Awards | TITAN Innovation Awards | NY Product Design Awards
Khaled Abdul Hamid Elnems is an Abu Dhabi-based R&D Innovations Q.C. with over 19 years of experience. Elnems has collaborated with international consultants in municipal settings, specialising in Construction and Operation/Maintenance (O&M) projects related to sewerage, stormwater, water supply, and building infrastructure.
His responsibilities encompass quality engineering control of materials, industrial administration, and proficiency in design tools such as AutoCAD (2D/3D) and Autodesk 123D (3D Printing) for modeling. He utilises various graphic programs for presentations. Additionally, as a Co-founder and Head of Delegation for International Innovations Exhibitions in Egypt and the U.A.E, he actively advocates for young inventors. He presents proposals and information, representing inventors in local and international events.
Born in Egypt and currently based in Abu Dhabi, U.A.E., I bring over 20 years of experience working with renowned international consultants such as PARSONS Infrastructure & Technology Group Inc. and MWH (Montgomery Watson Harza) under various municipalities, specializing in Quality Engineering Control.
My professional journey also extends into R&D and innovation, where I have pioneered the design of new products and prototypes, enhancing the quality of invention design and industrial products. My innovations span various fields, including sustainability (green management), clean energy, water preservation, safety, and welfare electronics. I have developed innovative solutions for complex road stormwater issues and hold multiple patents across these domains.
In addition to my technical expertise, I have served as a jury member on committees for international engineering invention and innovation exhibitions. As a co-founder and head of delegation for international innovation exhibitions representing Egypt and the U.A.E., I have supported and promoted young inventors, particularly women and marginalized groups, helping them achieve international recognition and rewards.
My role as a jury member in international innovation exhibitions involves engaging with students of all ages through digital creativity, presenting new ideas and innovations at both local and global events. I am dedicated to providing the necessary support to young and marginalized inventors, helping them enhance the quality of their designs. My approach to arts and design is inspired by Alberto Burri's "Sacchi" art school. This artistic influence complements my experience in R&D, where I have worked on integrating design with innovation, particularly in industrial products and sustainability art. My projects aim to improve the quality of new ideas and industrial products by blending artistic design with cutting-edge innovation.
Creativity for sure. Without creativity, you can't create the perfect design, and without design, you can't create the perfect innovation as the sense of design along with creativity creates great innovation. Creativity in the field of industrial design is an absolute thing because that's what makes high-value design work.
In terms of creativity, there are three things that are important: ideas, communication, and aesthetics. These three things are a form of perfect and complete creativity in design communications concepts. The role of creativity is vital, especially for innovative designers, whom most people consider creative simply by virtue of their work.
While creativity is subject to multiple definitions, it must work in tandem with other concepts before it can be taken advantage of. Broad creativity, creativity by originality, creativity and critical thinking, creativity, and artistic skill. Lastly, you must believe in your own innovative design work. We do not deal with the design as a mere cover for innovation but as the basis for accepting the invention marketing.
Attend design conferences/workshops and participate in international innovation exhibitions. Subscribe to design agencies, and publications (update Visual) to be informed about the latest design trends and innovations. Follow industry leaders from different industries or disciplines on social media platforms for design projects.
Join design communities, and discussion groups and read industry-specific blogs and publications. Experiment with new design tools and techniques. Additionally, take courses and workshops (online or on-site), collaborate with other designers, and keep a close eye on the competition while participating in design competitions, the goal is to develop a sense of creativity.
The idea is not just about the total options or what the benefits will do; rather, many creativity roles of innovation design are subject to multiple roles, and it must work in tandem with other concepts before it can be taken advantage of.
It is important for anyone who has an idea or invention and intends to display it or produce it.
First, the creative sense of innovation and quality control is paramount, particularly in the integration within industrial design. This includes the need to harmonise and integrate various options with the design for innovation, while also emphasising the importance of design aesthetics. The sense of design should always be a top priority.
Second, there must be formal integration and harmony with the surrounding environment. The design should align with and complement its context, creating a cohesive visual and functional experience.
Third, it's essential to consider the target audience for the idea or innovation, taking into account factors such as age, gender, financial situation, and environmental context. The design should be tailored to meet the needs and expectations of this specific category of users.
Consistency is another critical factor. There should be quality control in ensuring consistency between the tools of innovation, including the use of colours, logos, and the name of the innovation. All parts and pieces should be consistent in terms of form, composition, and purpose.
The design must also align with the core data and intent of the idea, ensuring that every aspect of the innovation fits seamlessly with its underlying concept. Fairing, or the process of refining the design, should be done by adding or modifying internal or external materials or components to simplify and enhance the user experience.
Upgrading and updating the design to keep pace with modern technology and market demands is essential to maintain relevance and appeal.
Finally, conducting a field survey is crucial to assess the marketability of the design, ensuring that it meets current market requirements and general consumer preferences.
1. The creative sense of innovation and quality control (integration in industrial design). Integration Design: Integrate and harmonize options with design for innovation. Sense of Design: Above all, consider design sense.
2. Consistency: (quality control) between the tools of innovation/idea (colors and their overlap - logo, name of innovation) - the consistency of all parts and pieces in terms of form, composition, and WHAT IT IS?
3. Upgrade and Update the design and modern technology to keep pace with market requirements and general taste along with a field survey to determine the marketability of the design.
With a dedicated focus on supporting women and marginalized inventors, Khaled Abdul Hamid Elnems fosters collaboration to help them achieve international recognition. His expertise in quality engineering control, and a commitment to fostering innovation and supporting marginalized inventors, have earned him widespread recognition.
