1Please give us a brief bio of yourself and your creative background.

Real Estate Webmasters, founded by current CEO and owner is myself, Morgan Carey in 2004. It emerged as an outgrowth of my previous work with SEO Guy Services, a company I established in 2000. Real Estate Webmasters's inception was driven by the recognized need for better web platforms in the real estate industry.

2What made you become/why did you choose to become a creative?

My expansion into creative services, such as website design, branding, and other creative solutions, was a natural evolution driven by our commitment to providing comprehensive and innovative tech solutions for real estate professionals.

The benefits were obvious, as not only were we able to respond to growing demand from clients, but it also allowed me to offer seamlessly integrated solutions to those demands. I am now proud to be the real estate industry’s only full-service online marketing agency.

3Tell us more about your business/company, job profile, and what you do.

Real Estate Webmasters is a leading provider of website and CRM solutions for real estate agents and brokerages. My mission is to empower real estate professionals with the tools and technology they need to succeed in a rapidly evolving industry.

At Real Estate Webmasters, my team includes web developers, designers, marketers, and customer support specialists who work together to deliver customized website and CRM solutions that are tailored to my clients' unique needs and goals.

I am passionate about leveraging the latest technologies and design trends to create high-quality and effective solutions that help my clients succeed and grow their businesses.

4What does “creativity” mean to you?

At Real Estate Webmasters, creativity is at the heart of everything I do, from designing and developing websites to crafting marketing campaigns and strategies. I believe that creativity is essential to staying ahead of the curve in a constantly evolving industry, and that it is key to delivering high-quality and effective solutions that truly meet my clients' needs and exceed their expectations.

To me, creativity is not just a skill or talent that some people are born with, but rather a mindset that can be cultivated and developed through practice, experimentation, and collaboration. It is a continuous process of learning, exploring, and refining, and is essential to driving innovation, growth, and success in our work.

5To you, what makes a “creative” idea and/or design?

For Real Estate Webmasters, a creative idea is one that manages to effectively balance standing out from the competition and visual appeal with enhanced user experience and functionality, all while providing the space for my clients’ own brand and vision to come to the fore.

A creative idea or design should also take into consideration the latest design trends and best practices, while at the same time pushing boundaries and exploring new techniques and technologies. It should be adaptable and scalable, and able to evolve over time as the client's business needs change or new opportunities arise.

6Tell us about your creative and/or design process.

At Real Estate Webmasters, my creative and design process starts with the client. I understand that each client is unique and has their own vision, brand, and goals, so I begin by actively listening to clients to gain a deep understanding of their needs and preferences.

For clients who already have an existing brand, I build upon that foundation, creating designs that align with their established brand identity. I work together to ensure designs that are cohesive with existing brand elements.

And for clients that are looking to start from scratch, we help them through the process by delving into their core values and professional goals. I conduct in-depth discussions and consultations to understand their target audience, market positioning, and desired outcomes. Based on these insights, my team of experienced designers and creative professionals develop concepts that resonate with the client's vision and objectives.

7What's your favorite part of the creative process and why?

The most rewarding part of a project is usually when the client recognizes how the product aligns with their brand personality and business goals. It's a gratifying moment that makes all the hard work worthwhile, when a client sees their brand come to life in the form of a visually stunning and impactful design.

8Describe your creative style and its main characteristics.

There are a few general principles which govern my creative style:

Modern design: Usually a good site is one that fulfills user expectations, so I tend to employ contemporary design elements and current trends by default, including clean lines and minimalist aesthetics.

User-centered: I place a strong emphasis on design solutions that prioritize user experience, making sure my products are intuitive, functional, and engaging.

Functionality: As mentioned, I focus on delivering functional products designed to meet the specific requirements of the real estate industry, seamlessly integrating with various technologies.

Innovation: Real Estate Webmasters strives to stay ahead of the curve by constantly developing innovative design elements and leveraging the latest in web-design practices and tech solutions.

9Do you think your country and its cultural heritage has an impact on your creativity process?

There are a few aspects of Canadian culture which impact the creative process at Real Estate Webmasters. For example, my commitment to diversity and inclusivity allows me to draw knowledge and inspiration from a range of sources. Another influence may be on my friendly, customer-centric approach.

10Congratulations! As the winner of the 2023 MUSE Creative Awards, what does it mean to you and your company and team to receive this award distinction?
Winning the Gold award was an incredible honor and validation of my team's hard work and dedication to creating exceptional website solutions for the real estate industry.
11Can you explain a bit about the winning work you entered into the 2023 MUSE Creative Awards, and why you chose to enter this project?

The winning work I entered into the 2023 MUSE Creative Awards was a custom version of my Renaissance real estate website. Within the modern and visually striking design, I incorporated advanced search functionality and integrated CRM tools to provide users with a helpful and intuitive experience.

I chose to enter this project because I believe it showcases my ability to deliver high-quality, customized website solutions that not only meet my clients' unique needs but also exceed industry standards in design, user experience, and technical functionality. I am proud of this work and believe it represents the best of what I can deliver.

12What was the biggest challenge with this project?

The biggest challenge I faced with this project was to create a custom version of my Renaissance website that truly reflected the unique brand identity and business needs of my client.

I had to work closely with the client to understand their vision, goals, and target audience, and then use my technical expertise and design skills to translate their requirements into a high-quality website that exceeded their expectations.

The challenge was to balance the client's specific requests with my design principles and best practices to create a website that was not only visually appealing but also user-friendly, fast, and SEO-friendly.

13How has winning an Award developed your practice/career?
I believe that winning this award brings additional credibility to my products and services, already some of the best in the industry, and while I always have confidence in my offerings, the external validation is just another indication that I am on the right track.
14What are your top three (3) favorite things about our industry?

Technology and innovation: I love being at the forefront of technology and innovation in the real estate industry. My team is passionate about leveraging the latest tools and trends to develop cutting-edge websites, CRMs, and marketing strategies that help my clients succeed.

Entrepreneurship and growth: I am passionate about empowering real estate professionals to build their own businesses and achieve their goals. I love working with clients who are driven, ambitious, and committed to growing their businesses.

Making a positive impact: At the end of the day, I am in the business of helping real estate professionals succeed. I take great pride in knowing that my solutions and services are making a positive impact on my clients' businesses and helping them achieve their goals.

15What makes your country specifically, unique in the creative industry?
Canada's creative industry is unique (especially within the technology sector) due to its blend of cultural diversity and technological proficiency. The diverse talent pool and progressive social values create a dynamic environment for creativity leading to unique and cutting-edge solutions.
16Where do you see the evolution of creative industry going over the next 5-10 years?

There are a few trends which I foresee developing over the next 5 to 10 years.

First, there will be an increasing expectation for highly functional and innovative design solutions with out-of-the-box products and services. Creatives will need to focus on delivering design solutions that not only meet the latest aesthetic standards but also provide seamless and efficient experiences for users across different platforms and devices.

Second, as societal awareness and concerns about environmental and social issues increase, creatives will need to incorporate sustainable practices and social impact considerations into their work, reflecting the values and expectations of their audiences.

Next, the boundaries between different creative disciplines, such as graphic design, web design, branding, and marketing, are expected to continue to blur. Creatives will need to adapt and develop interdisciplinary skills to meet the evolving needs of the industry, and collaborate across different fields to create holistic and integrated creative solutions.

And finally, AI will continue to have a significant influence on the creative industry. Creatives will need to understand and leverage AI to enhance their work, automate repetitive tasks, and uncover new creative possibilities, while also addressing ethical considerations related to AI-generated content and its impact on the creative process. This is why I am actively implementing my own AI-assisted services to empower my team in a thoughtful and responsible manner.

17If you were a student entering this industry or an aspiring MUSE Creative Awards submitter, what advice would you give them?

My advice to students entering the industry would be:

Stay up-to-date: Try to stay curious and keep your ear to the ground on the latest trends and technologies. It’s easy to become lost in the day to day details and miss which way the wind is blowing until it’s too late to change.

Collaborate: Network and collaborate with others in your field. This is vital to incorporating new perspectives and staying ahead of developments in the industry.

Embrace feedback: Feedback and criticism are essential to growth and improvement. See them as valuable opportunities.

Diversify your skills: If you’re a specialist, then be the best at what you do. Otherwise, you can increase your value and the quality of your work by diversifying your skill set. Blending technological competence with design skills is the way forward.

18What resources would you recommend to someone who wants to improve their skills in the creative industry?

The first invaluable resource would be your peers. By seeking feedback from peers you can gain fresh perspectives, identify areas for improvement and receive constructive criticism that can refine your creative work.

Next, learning from established leaders in the creative industry can provide valuable guidance and inspiration to elevate one's creative abilities to new heights. You can do this by attending conferences, workshops, or webinars, or following their work on blogs, podcasts, or social media.

19Who has inspired you in your life and why?

My clients have been my constant source of inspiration. Their unique needs, challenges, and success stories have shaped my approach every step of the way. Their trust, feedback, and triumphs fuel my passion to continuously innovate, evolve, and deliver the best possible solutions to help them achieve their business goals. I am grateful for the opportunity to partner with every one of them.

20What is your key to success? Any parting words of wisdom?

My key to success lies in my commitment to innovation, customer-centric approach, and dedication to excellence.

So always strive for excellence, embrace a learner’s mindset, stay adaptable to change, and prioritize building strong relationships with clients and partners.

21Do you have anything else you would like to add to the interview?

I would like to reiterate the importance of continuous learning and collaboration. This includes actively practicing and experimenting with different techniques, building a diverse body of work, and staying up-to-date on the latest technologies and trends.
