Jeff Zeller pushes boundaries by using the Nokia Lumia 1020 to capture photographs. He prove that everything is possible with the right skills and techniques!
My name is Jeff aka Memorable Image. I was always dabbling in photography throughout life. I purchased the Nokia Lumia 1020 Windowsphone for its best ever camera in that form factor and realized people were vastly underrating what it was capable of - as its feature set is amazing. I was traveling for work purposes, commuting by plane ever week, and loved having a small powerful camera wherever I went. So I kept ramping up what I would do with it - and purposefully limiting my gear to what I could carry in inside my normal suitcase. I would do landscape where I traveled but started shooting models as well, trying to merge the two genres where possible.
I am self-taught.
I remember as a child using a Kodak 110 Instamatic but it would be a guess at which photos I remember taking was the actual first one. It was most likely either a shot of my family, my cat or on a school field trip.
Camera - modified Nokia Lumia 1020 Windowsphone - 41MP High Resolution Sensor, OIS, Xenon Flash, manual controls, saves natively into DNG RAW format
Lights - Various small LEDs and RGB LEDs that I can either use on a tripod or handheld. Batteries, Laptop, Batteries, Bugspray, Suntan Lotion, Batteries
To push the boundaries on what is possible photographically with as little gear as possible - using a camera no one cares about.
"I think you've taken my favorite photos of me ever" from a European Playboy Playmate.
Although I just heard a new one last month "You see stuff no one else does. I never thought I could do this kind of shot."
Good photos get forgotten quickly. I prefer my subjects have photos that aren't forgotten or swiped away quickly in a "Next" motion.
Experimental, Artistic, Memorable.
Honored. It's a validation of being unconventional.
Model Ophelia Bloom had been on my wishlist radar for several years and I finally had a chance to work with her in Weston Florida outside of Ft. Lauderdale. I had scouted an area near a little waterway with some interesting trees. Having just a bag of gear its easy to move around, looking for the right spot. When we came to this tree, she climbed out on the limb to do her magic before I could even ask her as she saw the same possibilities I did (if not more). The weather and time of day was also perfect to capture the reflected clouds in the water. .
Too soon to tell.
am not inspired by any other's works per se. Everyone should have their own style I feel. I do respect technique and will try to learn that specific aspect from them without duplicating their style.
Certainly I enjoyed some mentoring in my music and film training. I was nearly 23 when I started into photography. I would say I simply went my own way.
Take photographs of how you see the world without worrying about someone else's standards. Take photos often - but spend more time fixing your less than best work in post-processing. You will learn more that way - and what to focus on to prevent the issues you are doing. And sometimes you might be surprised that your 5th best photo from a set, with a little care and cropping, might turn into your favorite.
Always keep learning - whether in photography, lighting, post-production, location scouting, props and outfits. Post-processing isn't just about "fixing" issues, it should also be used to add when appropriate.
How do you stay in that space of being receptive to new information and knowledge?

If you can get them: Matt Mahurin, who is well known in photography and illustration circles, and David LaChapelle. I would also consider being a judge. My email is ch33@runbox.com.
Thank you, Muse Photography Awards.
