1Please provide us with a brief bio of yourself.

I got my start in technology more than 20 years ago working in sales and leadership with companies like Symantec, Oracle and Adobe Workfront. I was fortunate to join SynergySuite as Chief Revenue Officer in 2018.

SynergySuite is a cloud-based, all-in-one, back-of-house restaurant management platform for enterprise restaurant brands. A year after joining SynergySuite, I became CEO and count myself lucky to get to work with the restaurant industry every day. It's a high-energy, dynamic group of people and I love helping them drive success.

2What is your role in the company?
I lead a global team of technology and industry professionals who are bringing unmatched operational efficiency to the best restaurant and pub brands worldwide. We are defined by our outstanding people, technology, and customers. I have the good fortune of driving culture, strategy, vision, and shareholder value for a company that's changing back-of-house restaurant software.
3Please tell us more about your organization.

SynergySuite is a global provider of back of house operational software tailored for multi-unit restaurant chains. Our mobile and Software as a Service (SaaS) technology platform revolutionizes restaurant operations by empowering operators to significantly enhance their profitability, through visibility and efficiency tools. Our technology platform enables restaurant operators to efficiently manage food and labor costs, drive operational excellence, and access critical data for optimizing their businesses.

The SynergySuite platform includes inventory management, purchasing, labor & scheduling, robust reporting, operational checklists, food safety protocols, cash management, and more. Additionally, our modular platform makes it easy for restaurant brands to choose only the modules they need now, and scale up as they grow. Scaling restaurants choose SynergySuite to optimize, grow, and expand their brand's operations.

4Describe the industry your organization is specialized in, as well as its main characteristics.

We're built for restaurants by restaurant people. SynergySuite sets itself apart from competitors by providing a unified, all-in-one cloud-based solution in a market flooded with fragmented options.

Unlike other companies focusing solely on inventory, food safety, or labor scheduling, our platform was purposefully designed as a cohesive, modularized system. This means that clients can access and utilize all the necessary features from a single solution, without the need for complex integrations or relying on multiple separate tools.

Since 2011, SynergySuite has been supporting restaurants' growth with our suite of back-of-house restaurant technology solutions and has emerged as a leader able to support and withstand industry disruption.

SynergySuite is used by thousands of restaurants around the world with restaurants in North America, Ireland, the United Kingdom, Central America and New Zealand.

7What are the challenges of developing / marketing your winning entry(ies)?

Restaurant technology is complex, and every restaurant brand we work with operates its restaurants a little differently. Simplifying and communicating the value proposition of SynergySuite into short entry formats to tell our complete restaurant technology story to a judging panel can be tricky.

Our team worked hard to clearly articulate how our solutions address specific pain points for multi-unit restaurant operators and deliver tangible benefits, including streamlined operations and savings on food and labor. This required us to refine our messaging, create compelling marketing materials, and provide real-world use cases that demonstrate the impact of our offerings. Luckily we have great clients that don’t mind us sharing their successes!

8As a business owner, please tell us more about your ideation process.
This is all about surrounding myself with the right people. I find inspiration in conversations with customers and other restech leaders. But I also lean heavily on my team at SynergySuite to share what they're learning and thinking about.
9What is your own definition of a successful team / organization / business?
As an executive leader, my focus is to coach and develop teams & individuals in a way that will provide long-term, repeatable success. My leadership philosophy includes hiring the right people, who demonstrate good insight and judgment, create an empowering environment, provide solid coaching, give them the right tools, and then get out of the way.
10What led you / your organization to become successful within the industry you are currently in?

Our commitment to our clients, partners, and employees has allowed us to build an all-in-one solution that is unmatched by the competition. SynergySuite grew out of a business providing tech consultation to bars and restaurants. That foundation led us to develop a platform that directly addresses their needs.

We pride ourselves in helping restaurants grow and develop and are consistently improving our products to offer the best solutions to our customers, so they can drive growth and delight their customers.

11How has the country, you are based in, helped move your industry forward?

SynergySuite, is a proud Irish brand, with headquarters in the USA and offices around the world. We have benefited from Ireland’s supportive business environment and initiatives that have helped move our industry forward. Ireland has played a significant role in fostering innovation, attracting investment, and nurturing a thriving business technology solutions sector.

12What have you found to be a hindering factor, for your business, during the entire course of the pandemic, and how did you overcome that hinderance?

The restaurant industry has faced a challenging few years, largely due to the impacts of COVID-19. With narrow profit margins to begin with, the fluctuation of costs has had a significant impact on profitability. Restaurants had to contend with lockdowns, social distancing measures, shifts in consumer behavior and spending, and higher food and labor costs, among other obstacles.

Fortunately, our platform provides real-time data insights that enable restaurant owners to make informed decisions about menu offerings, staffing levels, and pricing strategies. This has been critical in adapting to the rapidly changing market conditions.

When the pandemic hit, SynergySuite faced an uncertain future, much like our customers. Rather than panicking, we focused on doing everything possible to help our customers recover, recognizing that their success would ultimately drive ours. We deepened our customer relationships, offering additional support, including extensive training and consultation from our customer success team.

We also allowed billing delays to ease the transition for our customers. Our product and development team quickly adapted existing features to meet new challenges, such as launching an employee health check product at no charge to help restaurants manage employee wellness and new sanitation procedures.

SynergySuite understood the importance of collaboration during this time and shifted sales efforts to prioritize partnerships. These efforts helped our customers by promoting profitability-focused innovation and established a foundation for customer referrals that have driven revenue growth over time.

13What are the current trends in the business industry that you are most excited about?

As more and more operators realize that fragmented technology solutions aren’t ideal, we will continue to see consolidation in restaurant technology to continue in 2023, driven by acquisitions. Leaders in the industry will acquire smaller companies to offer more comprehensive and efficient tech solutions. This consolidation aims to address the increasing demand from restaurant operators for integrated systems rather than fragmented options.

Additionally, there will be a continued push for automation to streamline operations, although tech companies are still working to bridge the gap between aspirations and reality. As SynergySuite is non-fragmented, and built from the ground up, we are excited to offer a fully all-in-one solution already available on the market.

The adoption of technology solutions in restaurants is at an all-time high, and this is exciting to watch as well. It’s going to be a great few years for restaurants!

14What resources would you recommend to someone who is searching to improve their business prospects and organizational success?
Find a great mentor that is willing to invest in you, has experience in your profession and/or industry; and become a human sponge willing to change and grow. Don’t be afraid of failure and be resilient. As you change and develop, so will the results of your business endeavors.
15Where do you see the evolution of the overall business industry in the next 5-10 years?
Companies and individuals will need to quickly adapt to the impacts of AI in every aspect of life and business. AI will affect the consumer experience and the way business is done. Staying ahead of this quickly evolving technology will be key.
16Who inspired you in your life, and why?

I have been fortunate to have great mentors and people in my life, personally and professionally. I will forever be grateful for those in my career that were willing to give me a chance. However, the person with the largest impact because of her hard work, dedication, commitment and sacrifice was my mother.

She helped me build the foundation of who I am today. She never gave up, when most would. She smiled when most would cry. She served others before herself. She saw the good in everyone and everything. Her impact on me and my children will be felt for generations.

17What is your key to success? Any parting words of wisdom?
I am a strong believer in the power of a great culture. Culture eats strategy for breakfast and can’t be overlooked. If you can build a team of passionate experts in their fields and stay tapped into your customers' needs, you will make a difference.
