Interview with the 2021 MUSE Creative Awards Winner - Gabe Maya

1Please give us a brief bio of yourself and your creative background.

I’m Gabriel, an award-winning Growth Hacking Specialist with more than 12 years of experience in digital marketing, and with an emphasis on growing SMB's (small and medium-sized business) digital presence. My methods rely on empowering all online assets to converge into a landing page, website, or eCommerce store.

With life-changing results in more than 18 countries, and with methods proven to deliver increases in online sales up to 350%, I've developed a team of digital nomads from around the world, that thrive to make online marketplaces for our clients become their most successful source of revenue.

With a background in Digital Marketing, Advertising, Neuromarketing, and Behavioral Science, I've focused my entire career in understanding purchase behaviors from online customers around the world to bring you sustainable growth. Through this obsession, we've designed a methodological approach to how purchase decisions are made on an online marketplace and how to leverage those emotions to generate long-lasting and returning customers.

2What made you become/why did you choose to become a creative?

I started this company after seeing a disconnection between extraordinary design and results-driven-marketing. Agencies were doing one or the other: If they did result driven digital marketing, they were sacrificing design and experience. So I wanted to change this and integrate the best of both worlds under a cohesive concept.

3Tell us more about your business/company, job profile, and what you do.

We are a team of expats from agencies around the world who joined forces with a mashup of magical creative skills to deliver out-of-the-box digital solutions for businesses like yours.

4What does “creativity” mean to you?

"Good" design happens when you are able to deliver a clear message through aesthetics. But "Great" design happens when you are able to integrate the aesthetics and the conversation that is happening in the customer's mind.

5To you, what makes a “creative” idea and/or design?

A creative idea or design happens when the message is clearly conveyed to its target audience and is able to stick in their heads.

6Tell us about your creative and/or design process.

Our expertise relies on developing highly converting websites. So we focus a LOT in user experience and their journey of exploration throughout the website.

7What's your favorite part of the creative process and why?

Brainstorming sessions.

8Describe your creative style and its main characteristics.

We go deep into our client's mind to understand not only their vision but always what inspires them, what are they passionate about. Once we understand this it brings perfection to the creative process because we are able to dive not only into the customer's mind but also into the client's heart, making it a full success.

9Do you think your country and its cultural heritage has an impact on your creativity process?

Being a team of creators from around the world, from places such as Ireland, USA, Canada, Colombia, Mexico, Spain, we are able to bring all that rich cultural heritage into our creative process. The key for us is to always think local, and that's been one of our biggest success factors.

10Congratulations! As the winner of the 2021 MUSE Creative Awards, what does it mean to you and your company and team to receive this award distinction?

It validates our creative process and quality. Showcasing our skills to the world.

11Can you explain a bit about the winning work you entered into the 2021 MUSE Creative Awards, and why you chose to enter this project?

As Zue Botanicals started shifting to a Latin and Hispanic market by the end of 2019, they needed to adjust their digital presence, in a way that could feel cohesive with all the efforts they've been doing. Our eCommerce redesign proposal speaks to a new audience, maintaining Zue's values and strengths. For the development of Zue Botanicals we had two objectives: 1. Design: Aiming towards a natural look while maintaining the spark of the Latina women heritage 2. Marketing: Create social proof elements on the homepage to give the feeling of a trustworthy brand.

We did this by highlighting the categories of "As Featured In" and the photos and reviews of real customers. This with the sole purpose of generating trust and social proof in the brand and its products. We also added a "Real Results" section alongside the "Awards and Mentions" section, with the purpose of generating trust and confidence in the potential customer And lastly, we added Satisfaction Guarantee Icons at checkout so that the process of purchase "felt" secure from the beginning to the end.

12What was the biggest challenge with this project?

Being able to speak to the Latino audience living in the US.

13How has winning an Award developed your practice/career?

It has allowed us to gain more exposure and social proof for potential clients.

14What are your top three (3) favorite things about our industry?

1. The endless creative opportunities.

2. Being able to work with clients from around the world, one click away

3. Being able to work in projects for different segments and different industries.

15What makes your country specifically, unique in the creative industry?

The US has always been a place that endorses and stimulates creativity and out-of-the-box thinking. Specifically, in South Florida, where our main office is located, it has become a hub for creative industries. Probably the mixture of different cultures conveying in Southern Florida gives a multicultural approach to our creative process.

16Where do you see the evolution of creative industry going over the next 5-10 years?

100% online. You can have all your company's branding and sales needs fulfilled by the click of a button.

17If you were a student entering this industry or an aspiring MUSE Creative Awards submitter, what advice would you give them?

Fall in love with your creative process. Everything will fall into place after that.

18What resources would you recommend to someone who wants to improve their skills in the creative industry?

Resources I would recommend:

1. Social Media as a source for industry trends.

2. Newspapers as a source for understanding your client's culture.

3. Books related to creativity to keep your mind sharp.

19Tell us something you have never told anyone else.

I did my first successful marketing campaign when I was a teenager by helping a fish business in southern Miami to increase its sales by targeting tourists.

20Who has inspired you in your life and why?

My team is my inspiration. Their passion and their energy into making each project success have always been my source of inspiration and the reason why I start working every single day at 4 am.

21What is your key to success? Any parting words of wisdom?

Discipline and Focus.
