Interview with the 2021 MUSE Creative Awards Winner - Anastasia Gheorgoudas

1Please give us a brief bio of yourself and your creative background.

To begin with, my name is Anastasia Gheorgoudas and I'm an Art director from France/ Greece. I was raised in Greece the land of democracy, crystal blue waters and hillside sunsets, I learned to dream and always try to find the bright side of every situation. With my family I traveled a lot around the world. I was amazed by all these different cultures and lifestyles that inspired me since young age.

Also the variety of media and the different ads on TV each country had, made me want to learn more about the industry. That's why I chose to follow the creative path and got my Bachelor of Arts Bachelor of Arts on Field Of Study Animation, Interactive Technology, Video Graphics and Special Effects. Therefore I aimed higher and got my diploma in Art Direction.

2What made you become/why did you choose to become a creative?

Advertising is a way of communication. Strong ideas for ads stay in our minds forever. We all remember catchy songs from ads or really funny things we saw on TV when we were young. I wanted to create things that people will keep forever in their minds. Art Direction was my goal and I'm glad I achieved it. By becoming an Art Director you have the full image of what you create and you are able to reach people with your ideas.

3Tell us more about your business/company, job profile, and what you do.

I am an Art Director with high video skills. I always try my best to bring ideas to life and inspire others. I also love editing videos and create stories.

4What does “creativity” mean to you?

Creativity means to create something that can reach someone else in any emotional way.

5To you, what makes a “creative” idea and/or design?

Creative idea/ design is anything that communicates. Anything that can bring people together and connect in any way.

6Tell us about your creative and/or design process.

To create an idea, you need to find something that connects you with the project, that connection will be the spark and the idea will be born. Then we get the insights and the design process will begin. After all that we need to reshape and keep working in that idea until we find the perfect way to represent it.

7What's your favorite part of the creative process and why?

I love it when the idea takes shape and you put all the final pieces together in production.

8Describe your creative style and its main characteristics.

I like everything to have a clean design. Romantic and clean designs mostly is my style.

9Do you think your country and its cultural heritage has an impact on your creativity process?

I do think so, yes. Both France and Greece have a romantic and free culture.

10Congratulations! As the winner of the 2021 MUSE Creative Awards, what does it mean to you and your company and team to receive this award distinction?

It means the world to me as an Art Director wining a Silver MUSE Creative Awards. The MUSE Creative Awards is a recognition to our work and our creative ideas.

11Can you explain a bit about the winning work you entered into the 2021 MUSE Creative Awards, and why you chose to enter this project?

This project is not only to advertise the brand but also it raise awareness for the hidden dangers of FM & Driving. There are so many things that can distract a driver but most of them we can't even think of. FM and driving is distracting driving. The driver changes the station over and over to find the perfect song or skip the ads but not only that. Things we do out of habit needs change. This project will help people make that change.

12What was the biggest challenge with this project?

The biggest challenge was to find the right media to hit the FM. Taking over the radio was a challenge.

13How has winning an Award developed your practice/career?

Winning an Award is a great honor for my career. Gives me a bigger opportunity to work to the agency I admire.

14What are your top three (3) favorite things about our industry?

I love the variety of media and ideas. Everything is media and can be used to change the world.

First, I love to see all these innovating ideas.

Second, I find amazing how the world changes for the better with the power creativity has.

Last but not least, I love how the consumer gets more and more involved with what we advertise.

15What makes your country specifically, unique in the creative industry?

Creativity has no borders or country. The more countries you visit, the more understanding you gain for the world and how people think and observe media.

16Where do you see the evolution of creative industry going over the next 5-10 years?

Well, I don't think i can answer that but I always love to see simple and funny ads like the ones that made the industry started.

17If you were a student entering this industry or an aspiring MUSE Creative Awards submitter, what advice would you give them?

Aim for the stars! The higher you aim, the bigger the chance you have to land anywhere above the ground.

18What resources would you recommend to someone who wants to improve their skills in the creative industry?

Miami Ad School is an amazing place to learn and improve your skills in the creative industry.

Also, read articles, watch videos, ads and expand you knowledge in every way. Be open minded, this way you improve yourself that generates all the amazing creative ideas.

19Tell us something you have never told anyone else.

Maybe you notice from my bio on my portfolio but I'm a huge video games fan and I love the digital world.

Advertising in there is also huge and I can't wait to see it grow.

20Who has inspired you in your life and why?

My parents were always by my side helping me and giving me courage. My father, Nikolaos Gheorgoudas always wanted to gain more knowledge and achieve more things, he was studying more and more even when he had leading roles on his job. That self evolution always inspired me to become my better self and to learn more about the world.
