Osama Elolemy, an award-winning fine art photographer based in Dubai, UAE, transitioned from a background in engineering and fashion photography to pursuing his true passion for storytelling through fine art. Inspired by his travels and the cultures he’s encountered, his work captures the profound connections between humanity and nature, promoting appreciation for traditions and the beauty of existence.
I'm Osama Elolemy, an award-winning fine art photographer based in Dubai, UAE. My journey into photography began as a blend of curiosity and passion. Initially, I was drawn to the art of capturing moments through fashion and portrait photography. This passion thrived alongside my career as an engineer, allowing me to explore the creative world while maintaining a technical focus.
Over time, I transitioned into fine art photography, which became my true calling. This shift allowed me to express deeper stories and connections between people and the natural world. My travels, particularly with my wife, have been transformative, taking me to places like Africa, where I’ve witnessed the profound beauty of life and the wisdom of indigenous communities. These experiences have shaped my photographic style and purpose: to promote cultures, traditions, and humanity through my lens.
Photography for me is not just about creating images; it's about inspiring others to reconnect with nature and appreciate the simple, profound truths of existence. It's a journey of exploration, growth, and storytelling, and I feel privileged to share my perspective with the world.
I didn't pursue formal education in photography through a traditional academic institution. Instead, my journey into photography was largely self-taught, driven by curiosity, passion, and hands-on experience. I immersed myself in learning by experimenting with different techniques, studying the work of renowned photographers, and constantly challenging myself to improve.
Over the years, I also attended workshops, seminars, and exhibitions to gain insights from industry professionals. These experiences, combined with real-world practice and an engineering mindset for precision, allowed me to refine my skills and develop my own unique style. Photography has always been a lifelong learning process for me, and I believe that the best education comes from being curious, exploring the world, and continuously evolving.
I use a combination of equipment tailored to different photography and videography projects. My primary gear includes:
Cameras: Nikon Z9: This is my go-to camera for fine art and high-resolution photography. It's exceptional for capturing intricate details, making it perfect for exhibitions and professional work.
Lenses: I primarily use Nikkor Z lenses, including the latest 135mm Plena lens, for their outstanding clarity and bokeh.
One of the most touching compliments I’ve ever received came from a viewer at an exhibition, who said, “Your photographs don’t just capture moments—they capture emotions, stories, and the soul of the subject. It feels like I’m stepping into a world I’ve never been to, but somehow, it feels familiar.”
