An entirely separate category of drinks for those who want to have a fun time and get drunk at the same time, cocktails are an artform that requires the combined skill and knowledge of a bartender to learn the chemistry of mixing hard liquors with other flavored liquids to make a palatable beverage. However, a constant found in all bartenders in cocktail bars is mastering the important skill of mixing the perfect Highball. A simple 2-ingredient cocktail that calls for 1-part whiskey and 8-parts of flavored carbonated beverage of choice.
It’s a drink so easy to make, anyone can do it! And so does Jim Beam, who enlists the help of Tais Lourenco and Shane Yeager of DCV to shoot a short, informative and entertaining TikTok video on how you, too, can make use of your bottle of Jim Beam whiskey or bourbon that’s been sitting in your pantry to make the perfect highball.
First up, before making the perfect highball, you’re going to want to get a glass. Preferably a glass to drink whiskey out from, but any vessel will do! Next up, you’ll want to add as much ice as you can into the cup while also looking as cool as possible while doing so and ensuring that every ice cube is in the drinking implement.
The next part is a fun one, and it’ll set the course for the beverage that you will be crafting: Adding your favorite ginger ale as a base for the highball. Although you can also use any flavored beverage or soda of your choice to change up the taste of your highball instead, we won’t judge!
And last, but certainly not least, is the important part of the highball-making process. Adding the Jim Beam whiskey or bourbon as the final ingredient to your drink at ratio of 1-part whiskey and 8-parts carbonated drink of choice. Of course, you can also play around with the ratios and figuring the perfect balance of sweetness and hard liquor too!
And that’s all! It’s really that easy! And with your newfound skills in crafting the perfect highball, get out there and start experimenting with some Jim Beam whiskey and your soda of choice!
