A spiral of glowing lines unfolds in the darkness, pulsing in rhythm with the unseen forces of the universe. Feiyang Luobo’s TRACE REVERIE is a digital installation that moves beyond static visuals, drawing viewers into a cosmic journey inspired by ancient Chinese astronomy and philosophy. The play of color and light shifts with the cycle of time, echoing the structured harmony of the universe. As the spirals rise and turn, the constellations emerge, mapping a celestial blueprint onto the shifting, luminous form.
At the core of TRACE REVERIE is the interplay between structure and mystery. The installation’s design mirrors the Two Instruments system, an ancient Chinese cosmological concept, translating it into a rotating digital vortex. Twenty-eight constellations shimmer within its framework, their patterns shifting in response to an unseen rhythm.
The work unfolds in four chapters, a continuous cycle of 366 seconds with each loop urging the viewer to look closer, to find the subtle variations in the dance of light. The longer one watches, the more the details reveal themselves, much like tracing the movements of stars over time. A sense of motion defines this installation, not just in its evolving visuals but in how it draws the audience into participation.
Every reflection of light, every slow rotation of the spiral carries the weight of time and meaning. The shifting glow, the deepening shadows, the way the entire structure breathes in response to the surrounding space, all these elements merge to create a hypnotic experience.
