Nestled beside the tranquil waters of Tongxin Lake in Zhenhai's International Talent Park, Hyatt Centric Lakeside Ningbo stands as a prime example of architectural ingenuity and cultural immersion. Designed by Celia Chu Design & Associates, the hotel redefines contemporary hospitality by embracing Ningbo’s deep-rooted maritime history while integrating thoughtful spatial innovation. This forward-thinking approach has won the project the Platinum Winner award in the 2024 TITAN Property Awards, a recognition of its outstanding contribution to modern luxury design.
Hyatt Centric Lakeside Ningbo’s architectural and interior concept reflects the spirit of a port city, capturing the harmony between tradition and contemporary aesthetics. Every element, from the materials used to the structural forms, draws inspiration from Ningbo’s rich history and natural surroundings. The wooden shutters provide a warm, inviting ambiance, reminiscent of the region’s traditional architecture, while the art pieces curated from local artists bring the lake’s reflections indoors, establishing a deep connection between the hotel’s interior and its scenic environment.
Upon entering, guests are greeted by a lobby that transforms with the seasons, drawing from the vibrant heritage of mahjong. The dynamic color palette shifts subtly, mirroring the changing landscapes of Tongxin Lake and the rhythmic energy of the city. Traditional craftsmanship is interwoven into the experience, with handcrafted nail bowl art adorning select spaces, celebrating local artisanship and reinforcing a strong cultural narrative.
Celia Chu Design & Associates has reimagined the hotel’s spatial structure, moving away from rigid enclosures in favor of a fluid layout that enhances interaction and exploration. The reception area is redefined with sculptural counters that establish an open, welcoming dialogue between guests and staff, moving beyond the conventional check-in experience.
Rather than isolating functional areas with solid partitions, the design employs organic zoning to establish distinct yet interconnected spaces. The Chinese restaurant, club lounge, lobby lounge, and game room transition naturally into one another, guided by meticulously crafted architectural details and furniture compositions rather than physical walls. This approach fosters an open and immersive environment, encouraging guests to move freely and engage with the space on a deeper level.
Winning the Platinum Award at the 2024 TITAN Property Awards, Hyatt Centric Lakeside Ningbo stands as a remarkable achievement in contemporary hotel design. Celia Chu Design & Associates have skillfully blended cultural heritage with forward-thinking spatial solutions, creating an environment that is both immersive and functional.
By incorporating local craftsmanship, artistic elements, and a reimagined approach to hospitality spaces, the hotel sets a new benchmark for experiential design. The attention to detail ensures that every guest interaction with the space is meaningful, making each visit memorable.
This project highlights how architecture and interior design can go beyond aesthetics to shape emotional connections. Guests are not just stepping into a hotel; they are entering a space that tells a story, one that bridges Ningbo’s past with modern luxury.
