As virtual reality technology becoming more and more advanced by the minute, traditional sets and real-life backgrounds are slowly beginning to phase out to obscurity in favor of more stunning, vibrant and consistent results.
ICVR is an award-winning developer that is at the forefront of creating near-photorealistic VR backgrounds utilizing the ever-innovating Unreal Engine, and demonstrating their true power in creating the short film titled, “AWAY”. The unreal part? It only took a whole day of shooting to produce an amazing film in their XR Stage!
The film follows a young girl surviving in the barren woods all by her own, scavenging for food and water in the wild where she encounters a wreckage of a commercial plane. Much to her excitement.
As she goes through the belongings of the deceased, she quickly becomes ecstatic when she discovers a acoustic guitar in perfect condition.
We then switch from the drab forest wastelands to walking through the empty and dark city slums lit up by vibrant neon signs, where our protagonist stops at the edge of the balcony and begins playing to an empty crowd. Her notes echoing through the concrete alleyways and corridors.
No more should production crews cancel and reschedule shoots due to bad weather and missed lighting opportunities provided by nature. The future of creating entire movies is VR!
