The name Asahi should ring a bell to a casual drinker and alcoholic connoisseur worldwide. Globally renowned for their specialty in making Japanese rice lager that is known for their light flavor profile and dry characteristics. As well as making a diverse portfolio of the beer style’s variations to fit drinkers from all walks of life.
To establish their stranglehold on the beer market, they’ve reached out to Steven Leach & Associates to design the Asahi Group Holdings office space that captures the essence of what Asahi stands for at a global scale. And also being the very first office plan in the world with a fully-functioning bar to dispense Asahi beer on tap during office hours too!
Entering the lobby first of the Asahi Group Holdings office space, you are greeted with a simple and unassuming room painted in the signature blue color trademarked by Asahi. There sits a counter where the clerk would be at and the current Asahi wall lamp still in use today. Behind the counter, however, is the world map that is created from hundreds of bottlecaps gathered from the current lineup of beers available for purchase in supermarkets today.
Walking further into the office plan, you will escape from the drab blue room to a more modern space instead. All corners of the office from here on out painted and color-matched with the signature colors found in the packaging design of all of their packaging and even down to the color of the beer itself!
The office space is an entirely open-concept one with no formal desks, office chairs and cubicle where the creative geniuses at Asahi take permanent residence in. Instead, those working at Asahi Group Holdings can sit anywhere they want and is not relegated to a singular spot only.
The only closed-off area of the office space is the large meeting room where employees and executives gather around for important discussions to dictate Asahi Group Holding’s foreseeable future. The dominant colors here are of grey and red, a signature color palette that is seen in many of Asahi’s iconic designs that are still being printed and used today.
But the main star of the show definitely has to be the kitchenette at the back of the office. Fully equipped with all the amenities and snacks to keep the workers fed and happy throughout the work day. The best part, however, is a fully-functioning bar equipped with a tap system where everyone can pour an ice-cold beer at any time. And if that is not enough, there’s even a stellar view of the city skyline as you work on your projects and sip on some quality Japanese beer!
We’ve seen many office plans and concepts that break away from the traditional mold of drab cubicles and fluorescent lighting. But never before have we seen one with free-flow beer on tap and we definitely want to work there everday!
