Interview with the 2019 MUSE Design Awards Winner - Chung Chao-Hung

1Please give us a brief bio of yourself and your design background.

I was born in July 1981 in Cancer. It is a constellation full of love.

Frankly, I'm a little lazy and forgetful, so in order to satisfy my instinct, when each case is officially carried out, I will ascertain the smoothness of the engineering of our team, the degree of delicateness of the design drawings and the fineness of the construction drawings, Communication with the owner will be more important than usual, so it needs to be more detailed and careful.

When I communicate with the client to complete all the designs, I will communicate with the construction personnel of each project for the first time before the construction. I will set up a communication explanation and site simulation for the first time. When the construction personnel of each project enter the construction site on the first day, I will also go to the site to explain all construction details and precautions. I will carefully arrange all the preliminary preparations to ensure that all team members can be very smooth and smooth during the case.

Because I had prepared very well in advance of the construction process, during the construction, "I was able to free up my head space to give play to ideas and creativity, and to maximize the comfort of the space."

2Tell us more about your business/company, job profile, and what you do.

We at BFY Design were very lucky in 2016. For the first time, we submitted works to participate in international competitions. We only selected one work to submit to the competition, but for this single work, we were lucky to receive Italy A 'Design and Korea K-DESIGN, getting love from the interior design award judges.

Until this year, we decided to submit works again to participate in international competitions and create milestones for BFY Design 2019. We are very lucky and honored to have won the love of the judges, and be part of the gorgeous MUSE Goddess story.

3What does “design” mean to you?

The essence of design art is creativity and creative thinking. Design must integrate the existing conditions and environment, using the sensibility in the heart as the basis for proper and innovative design, and create unlimited space possibilities.

When we communicate with our customers and find that their ideas can be better expressed to the space, our designers can then properly make suggestions about the customer's ideas, inject new vitality into the space, and make design art and space practical. The combination allows customers to bring beautiful changes to their hearts.

4What is really good design?
In short, I think that each customer, space, environment and many conditions are different. Basically, the design should have the soul and personality of "customer" and "space environment". What we can do is to find various approaches to "it". At the same time, people will feel the relaxation and comfort brought by design or feel that design brings the connection between people and emotions, and then derive to a happy memory. Designers are not only in the design space, but more importantly, let the design elicit emotions.
5Congratulations! As the winner of the 2019 MUSE Awards, what does it mean to you and your company and team to receive this award distinction?

After 8 months of design and implementation, thanks to the trust of the owner and the support of the engineering team, the ideal design was achieved. It was a great honor to work with the owner to practice the definition of happiness in family life and let the owner enjoy life while enjoying design.

This award is an immortal achievement and crown for designers, companies and teams, and it is also a very important milestone for us.

6Can you explain a bit about the winning work you entered into the 2019 MUSE Awards, and why you chose to enter this project?

At the beginning of the design, we kept the original model and did not start with large changes. We first set up future space according to the living needs of the homeowner, and then made each space unique and material. we shuttle through each space, thus creating the visual continuity of the entire space.

We have created a moving line of the English letter "E", which is quiet when people relax, feel comfortable when people can move freely in space, and feel "love" when people interact with people.

We chose the "US MUSE International Design Competition". The US MUSE Design Award represents excellence and wisdom in the design career, and it is also a symbol of creativity.

7What was the biggest challenge with this project?
The biggest challenge is actually me, because I want my design ideas and concepts to be fully expressed in the text narration and let the judges fully feel the atmosphere of the scene through the images.
8If you were a student entering this industry or an aspiring MUSE Award submitter, what advice would you give them?
Don't be afraid, try to show it when you are ready, express and narrate the work as fully as possible.
9What is your key to success? Any parting words of wisdom?
In addition to design, it is more important for us to let the design elicit emotions.
