Aurika, Udaipur, the premier property of Lemon Tree Hotels has recently been awarded the Platinum Award in the 2025 French Design Awards is a retreat where honoured guests are treated to a classic design where the allure of Rajasthan's native flora presents itself an experience of luxury. The property is spread over 12 acres of land, with outdoor spaces paying tribute to the heritages of Udaipur. Their modern design is also thanks to the inspiration of Mughal gardens which was a style influenced by the Persian gardens, particularly the Charbagh structure.
Designed by Bobby Mukherrji Architects, the landscape of the property is developed and designed to reflect the region's arid climate, featuring native plants that thrive in dry conditions. Some of the plants that they've included prominently in the planting scheme were Bougainvillea and date palms, these were plants that one would think of when thinking of the deserts.
These plants were complimented as well with a curated selection of other indigenous species, chosen for their resilience and minimal upkeep requirements. The natural aesthetics of Rajasthan consist of the botanical arrangements that offer guests an environment that is sustainable and pleasing to the eye.
Inspired by the symmetrical design of the Mughal gardens, the resort features linear pathways that lead guests to key focal points within the property. Expansive banqueting grounds provide open-air venues suitable for events, these could be for grand celebrations or even intimate gatherings. Carefully arranged, the grounds are framed with greenery that balances the aesthetics of the area with functionality without sacrificing the beauty of its design.
What's a resort without a swimming pool? Here, the swimming pool area is a tranquil oasis, featuring atmospheric dim underwater lighting and playful cow-head gargoyles that spout water, creating soothing sounds that enhance relaxation. The play of light orchestrated through the dim underwater lighting helps cast a serene glow over the water at dusk.
During cooler winter months, the pool is heated while offering a warm haven that is particularly appealing for honeymoon couples seeking an intimate vacation or escape. The pool's floor area is also surrounded by patterns that accentuate the area's visual allure, making it a great location for both relaxation and social gatherings.
Bobby Mukherrji Architects' design for Aurika, Udaipur is one of philosophy that extends its terrace gardens and courtyards to a more traditional material while understanding the beauty of indigenous flora and the grandeur they emit.
Guests are treated to sweeping views of Lake Pichola and the Aravalli hills, which provide a majestic backdrop that complements the resort’s architecture. The building itself is a tribute to classic design, featuring carved arches, detailed frescoes, and polished marble that exudes sophistication. Intimate balconies and broad terraces serve as private vantage points from which visitors can appreciate the scenic panorama.
As dusk falls, a carefully orchestrated lighting design brings the resort to life. The soft illumination accentuates the key features of the gardens and pool areas, transforming the property into a dazzling spectacle of light and shadow. Whether hosting a destination wedding or a leisurely holiday, Aurika offers an experience where nature, tradition, and modern luxury coalesce into a memorable stay that reflects the charm of Rajasthan.
