Interview with Martyn Norsworthy | A Creative Pet Photographer from the United Kingdom

Hi, I'm Martyn Norsworthy. I was born to be a photographer! I know that sounds cliched, but it was when I took my first photo aged 4, and I can still feel the same buzz.

I studied photography at Plymouth College of Art in the UK.

My first shot was while on a family visit to Windsor Castle in England. I was age four and had an overwhelming urge to have to take a photo of a statue! I can still feel that buzz to this day and have a copy of this photo in my studio!

I shoot on Nikon, I have always used Nikon, apart from when I shot Weddings using a Bronica Medium Format camera back in the 1990s. I am currently using a Nikon Z7 Mirrorless for my studio work and a D850 and D700 DSLR for Weddings and Outdoor Events.

I wish to continue developing my style and achieve more fabulous Portraits that capture people's characters and fulfill their wants and needs to have their portraits to pass on to future generations. one major achievement would be to Photograph The King, as I have already photographed two members of the Royal Family.

I have had many compliments over the years that have touched me and inspired me, to be honest, any praise from any client always touches me. Photography is such a personal thing and for a client to be happy is the best feeling.

Life itself, I watch, I observe and I get to know my clients really well. I often capture subjects so quickly that it's an emotional attachment that I see and feel.

Honest, genuine, and emotional.

It means so much to have received awards from the Global Photography Awards. It means all of the hard work and passion is rewarded and recognized.

I entered the 10 images this year as a cross-section of what I do. In all cases, I always enter client work into competitions. I like to think that should I gain an award it shows that my everyday work is up to standard and I don't shoot for competitions. This means the time frame I capture the award-winning images in, is as restricted as any client session.

Over the years I have been lucky enough to win many international awards, which helps to keep me in the spotlight locally and internationally. This award from the new Global Photography Awards is special as it's new, fresh, and something different.

Take photos every day, observe, look about, and look up!

Get out and about, take photos, chat with people, and watch them as they interact with you, especially if you want to become a portrait photographer. Above all, shoot what you love.

I keep positive; I feel the need to photograph almost everything, I see photos everywhere I look. It's hard not to be a photographer!

I love social media for seeing new things, but I don't follow trends, I love my work to be true, honest, and timeless.
