Dinesh Kabaleeswaran

Dinesh Kabaleeswaran, with over 10 years of experience in managed care, is a leading figure in market access, specializing in oncology strategy advice for large biopharmaceutical clients. He serves as the Senior Vice President at MMIT's advisory services, a notable organization in life sciences data and insights.

1Please provide us a brief bio of yourself and your health industry background.

My name is Dinesh Kabaleeswaran and I'm a market access industry leader with over 10 years of managed care experience advising large biopharmaceutical clients on pre- and post-launch strategies in oncology indications.

I serve as the Senior Vice President of the advisory services business at MMIT, a life sciences data and insights organization.

2What motivated you to pursue this particular health initiative, and what impact has it had on individuals or communities?
A key challenge in the United States healthcare is drawing insights from disparate and disconnected data sources - our solution enables the industry to view the complete patient journey end to end.
3Tell us more about your business/company, your job profile, and the specific responsibilities you undertake.

For nearly two decades MMIT has been solely focused on solving the “what and why” of drug coverage, and has been a trusted, go-to-market partner to pharma companies, payers and providers. We believe that patients who need lifesaving treatments shouldn’t face delays because accessing drugs can be confusing.

As the leading provider of market access data, analytics and insights, our expert teams of clinicians, data specialists and market researchers provide clarity and confidence so that our clients can make better decisions.

As the Senior Vice President of Consulting and Advisory Services at Managed Markets Insight & Technology, I lead a $25M portfolio of qualitative and quantitative market research products delivering actionable insights for 100+ pharmaceutical manufacturers.

4Can you share a specific story or testimonial that exemplifies the positive impact your project has had on an individual or community?
Our customers often share with us that our solution enables them to draw insights within days whereas it may have taken them several months earlier. Another customer was able to identify through our solution that their brand was not being granted the access they were contracted for and our end-to-end solution helped them gain this insight.
5What inspired you to create this health-related creative project, and what message or impact were you aiming to convey?
Our customers often find it difficult to validate findings from one data set (example - coverage data set) and have to use RWD information to compare and contrast. Our inspiration was to bring together these data sets to deliver integrated insights that would impact patient access.
6What unique artistic or creative elements did you utilize to communicate the health message or story?
Our solution falls under the category of healthcare tech - however, I must admit that bridging different data sets is as much art as it is science and requires creativity.
7How does your creative project contribute to raising awareness, promoting behaviour change, or improving health outcomes?
Our solution helps manufacturers see the complete patient journey from start to finish - early diagnosis of diseases, who is getting what treatment and are they being covered by manufacturers.
8Congratulations! As a winner of the TITAN Health Awards, what does it mean to you, your company or team to receive this award distinction?
We are proud for being recognized by TITAN Health Awards and this motivates us to work even harder towards positive outcomes in patient access.
9Can you explain a bit about the winning work you entered into the TITAN Health Awards, and why you chose to enter this project?

MMIT's Patient Access Analytics solution brings together the power of integrated analytics - where for the first time in the life sciences industry, payer coverage data, patient claims data, institutional pathways data and lab testing data has been brought together to deliver actionable insights that will enable pharmaceutical manufacturers to move even closer to the patient.

Over the past few decades, pharma companies have perfected the art of using market access data to support product launches, negotiate payer discounts, and secure preferred status and positioning. Manufacturers typically track formulary and medical policy guidelines and restrictions—including prior authorization and step therapy requirements—for a product and its competitors, using this data to inform their market access strategy.

For the most part, this approach works. But in competitive therapeutic areas, like immunology and oncology, optimizing patient access, depends on creating a more structured, holistic market access story. By augmenting traditional datasets with real-world data, manufacturers can follow patients’ progression along the care continuum—and uncover new opportunities to improve access.

Integrating real-world lab and claims data with coverage and clinical pathways data reveals a new world of opportunity for manufacturers. With full visibility into how patients receive care, manufacturers can maximize the ratio of diagnosed patients to treated patients—and optimize access to their therapies.

10What was the biggest challenge with this project?
Data sources are disconnected and bridging them to draw key insights was the biggest challenge of our project.
11How has winning an Award developed your practice/career?
Recognition is always a motivation to work harder and develop impactful solutions for the industry and patients.
12What are your top three (3) things you think is unique about the health industry?
Health industry allows us the opportunity to impact patient lives in a tangible manner; enables us to look for clarity amidst the chaos; and simplicity within the complexity.
13What makes your country unique in the health industry?
The United States Healthcare system is unique - we take a lot of pride in bringing specialty drugs to the market for even for rare conditions for which a lot of money is pumped in as R&D. Therefore, it is important to follow the dollar flow amongst different stakeholders which spins a web of complexity for us to unravel.
14Where do you see the evolution of the health industry going over the next 5-10 years?
AI is here to stay and I am optimistic about the opportunity in front of us to identify diseases earlier, treat them with precision and manage indications in a more robust manner.
15What resources would you recommend to someone who wants to improve their skills in the health industry?
Trade journals are an important, understated resource that helps anyone stay abreast of day-to-day happenings in the industry. Fierce Pharma, Drug Channels are among my favorite.
16Who has inspired you in your life and why?
I draw a lot of inspiration from sport - you win some, you lose some but you don't quit.
17What is your key to success? Any parting words of wisdom?
Persistency is key to success. Our world is evolving, and we need to be flexible, agile and evolve based on needs and requirements of the changing world.
18Do you have anything else you would like to add to the interview?
Thank you to TITAN Health Awards for hosting these awards and recognizing industry leaders.
