With the rise of multi-billionaire CEOs of trillion-dollar enterprises investing their profits into space exploration, it’s safe to assume that space travel might very well be a reality in the coming year. Who wouldn’t want to get on a spaceship and visit Mars in 20 years for vacation someday?
But, what happens when you are only a few lightyears off-course and end up being stranded on an uninhabited planet that’s not on your itinerary? Well, when life gives you lemons, you make lemonade! Or in this case: You plan the greatest party the universe has ever seen to quell the fears of your crewmates, even by a little bit. And that’s what Harlow is all about!
Harlow stars our titular character, Harlow. A robot aboard the carrier dubbed the R1-Humanity that crash-landed on an uninhabited planet after a malfunction in the ship’s navigation unit slightly altered the intended course to the to-be-colonized planet. Now stuck on a planet that has strayed far away from the original plan, what do you do now? Well, you roll into the great unknown, gather materials and resources, and plan the greatest part the universe has ever seen before your human overlords wake up from their cryogenic sleep to make their shock slightly-less traumatic. That’s what you do!
To begin your journey to kickstart humanity’s new life in this harsh and somewhat-unforgiving planet, you use your mouse to click and drag away from Harlow to visualize the trajectory that he will take. After that, everything else is simple enough as it is! Punt Harlow in different parts of the map and while in mid-air to gather resources and other goodies that will help in the party, and roll away from any dangers that might hinder our young party-planner of the future.
Harlow also have multiple endings that is directly affected by how much resources you can contribute to the party. So do your best to go all out in the decorations and party favors to create the greatest party this new humanity has ever seen! Or maybe not bother about the party at all and watch the new colonists lose their minds on things not going as planned, your call!
You can visit the Steam for a short and fun single player experience and even support the developers by buying the official soundtrack as well. If you’re on the Switch, you can also pick one up from their official website here!
