Interview with the 2022 MUSE Creative Awards Winner - Fayaz Zubair

1Please give us a brief bio of yourself and your creative background.

I am a full-time Project Designer in the Events Industry for 6 years. Living and working in U.A.E. I handle the overall project design from hand sketching starting concept, producing all sorts of visuals in 3D, and 2D to post production to technical CAD to finish stage finish the final product. I really enjoy my work.

2What made you become/why did you choose to become a creative?

For me, it's my natural process towards creativity. When I was young I had a strong passion for drawing something different that speaks through visuals. What comes to my mind I always draw. I have secured lots of first places in school competitions during my college time. Every year art competition I win every time. (like watercolor, pencil sketching, Cartoonist, etc) I have won District Level, And State Level Government competitions and was awarded first place. Creativity is my life and it is always will be in my blood.

3Tell us more about your business/company, job profile, and what you do.

I work in the Event Industry at Wicked Tent, a member of GL events position as a Project Designer, handling all kinds of designs from scratch to finish.

4What does “creativity” mean to you?

My definition is simple, creativity is the process of something becoming new that no one sees his entire life. It's a birth or merging together to become a new idea. Creativity needs strong passion and commitment.

5To you, what makes a “creative” idea and/or design?

It's like an "Aha" moment for me. It doesn't know when but when I am happy and satisfied that means that idea is much better. If I am not satisfied with the ideas I won't back up until I found a solution and creative moment. I like to solve problems in the creative process in a single sitting.

6Tell us about your creative and/or design process.

Visualizing is the first step creative process. It saves time a lot before sketching the initial stages. when the ideas come through visualization the next step goes through sketching. I sketch the ideas with more options at least 10 options. after that, I sort it out with 3 options and try to modify it the best as possible until I was satisfied. If I am satisfied only I will proceed with the design.

7What's your favorite part of the creative process and why?

Visualizing is my favorite part because for me it's easy to control in my mind rather than sketching I can modify very fast in my mind.

8Describe your creative style and its main characteristics.

Depends on briefs and clients' needs. Innovation is a key part of my design style. Innovating design in every aspect is important. Design should be new fresh ideas and new combinations of colors and materials. No one should not try before. My style is challenging and always should be modern.

9Do you think your country and its cultural heritage has an impact on your creativity process?

Of course. I am an Indian living in Dubai. Both of the countries have a lot of impact on my creativity.

10Congratulations! As the winner of the 2022 MUSE Creative Awards, what does it mean to you and your company and team to receive this award distinction?

Thank you once again MUSE Creative Award. I am pleased to participate in this award and receive the Platinum award 2022 for corporate identity. I was very excited and happy. This will gain huge potential in my career growth.

11What was the biggest challenge with this project?

Corporate Identity is always challenging. It seems small but it is a very thoughtful process to combine and make it happen. Bringing a story to a logo and bringing it into practice is difficult to stage. because branding is the trademark for business it will come in the front.

12How has winning an Award developed your practice/career?

Winning An award brought me recognition. I can't market myself. My work has been recognized winning onwards.

13What are your top three (3) favorite things about our industry?

The first is to bring something to happen. Second, working as a creative is fun to work. The creative industry has no limits. Every creative idea always comes first.

14What makes your country specifically, unique in the creative industry?

Art has been present in India for millennia and has evolved through religious, cultural, and political change. India’s arid culture has preserved many of its ancient metal and stone and other arts from drier climates are preserved as well. Indian art forms consist of pottery, cave paintings, sculpture, and textiles influenced by Hinduism, Buddhism, Jainism, Islam, and the cultural values of the Hellenists and the peoples of the Indus Valley.

15Where do you see the evolution of creative industry going over the next 5-10 years?

Creative art has been digitalized after 5-10 years. All creative industries will be digital. nowadays everything has gone digital like crypto NFT art, sculpture, media, advertising, Metaverse, etc. This is the early stage for the coming years. I believe the creative industry will be one of the top industries in the world. Without a creative industry none of the people can survive.

16What resources would you recommend to someone who wants to improve their skills in the creative industry?

YouTube is my guru. For those who are interested in free of cost and learning effectively, I suggest going through YouTube. There are so many people who teach designing software very effectively. I am a self-thought designer. I learned design tools myself through youtube and always think differently. Don't be afraid of thinking out of the box and don't be shy to express a creative opinion.

17Tell us something you have never told anyone else.

I have a lot of things but this is one of them. I pretend to work tired. But inside I am a workaholic. After office work, I work again at home.

18Who has inspired you in your life and why?

Elon Musk, coz I believe life is a purpose. without doing something in this world for me it is meaningless. Hard-working to achieve goals is the way of life. to gain happiness and wellness meaningful life.

19What is your key to success? Any parting words of wisdom?

Focus. Live in the present moment, work hard and forget about the past and future." Action speaks louder than the voice".

20Do you have anything else you would like to add to the interview?

Thanks for choosing me. May all have a wonderful day.
