In many ways than one, the fourth largest city of China, Shenzhen, is the Silicon Valley of the East where it is a hotbed of innovation, design, and technology that is setting industry benchmarks on an international scale. And their next big landmark in the city, The Nest Art Centre, is becoming one of the city’s best work yet.
At first glance from the outside, the building may look like any other standard fare glass buildings done to death at this point. However, a closer look at the interior of the would reveal something else that immediately catches the eye of any attentive passerby.
Upon walking inside, you will be greeted by a towering monolith of the peak of industrial design and aesthetic crafted with wood, metal, concrete, glass, and living plants.
The main attraction of the art centre within the confines of the office campus would naturally be the large spherical structure of steel and wood and shaped like a nest, taking a page out from nature and its avian specimens building their homes with the same primary material, wood.
The base of the nest-like structure has wooden arches where you can walk into and even having several tables, chairs, and couches for you to kick your feet back and take in the views, or having a productive and relaxing business meeting.
The upper levels of the nest structure is accessible via stairs. And upon reaching the top, you will enter a large empty space covered in grass for recreational activities that you might possibly do in a park too, should you desire!
China has once again raised the bar to even greater heights with this feat in recreational space and architectural design. Day by day, Shenzhen is slowly turning into an innovative juggernaut and primary player in the world of design! The Nest Art centre is a great example of combining art, architecture, and ecology into a beautiful harmony.
