My name is Matt and I am a London based self-thought independent designer with 10 years of experience.
Since I can remember, I have always been inspired by creatives, especially graphic designers. Self believe was never something I was strong at, and this is probably why it took me quite a while to pursue a creative route. At one point in my life I have worked for several start-ups. Some of those companies would launch interesting products and services, and many of them would solve problems in the world. But one thing that was not on their radar, was the creative industry. There were just no start-ups that would serve that particular sector. It was exactly at that point, that I got inspired, motivated and hyped to launch my start-up. This was also my first step towards a creative career. My start-up had one goal, to serve the creative industry and support them where possible. I’ve launched a social network that would connect creatives, enable them to exchange ideas, be recognised for their work and of course find more work. As Ralph Waldo Emerson said: “life is a journey, not a destination. During my start-up journey I have met many people, made a lot a friends and eventually got dragged into the creative world. One day I woke up, decided that I will purchase an Adobe licence and learn how to become a graphic designer. As time passed, I got better, got my first clients, reviews, recommendations and pretty much all progressed from that point onwards.
My company is called madade.xyz and I specialise in brand development and logo designs. Obviously, I did not have a company from day one. It actually took me a while to master my skills, build trust, grow my customer base and reach a certain point to call it a job. My job is not just the money part, it means far more to me than that. I want to design something that solves my customers problems.
To me creativity means being one with my clients. I want to design things that have a voice and impact, something that shakes up the viewer.
Develop something that customers can connect with.
A design process has many elements, and I think all designers have their own process. For me, the most important aspect in that process is communication with my clients. I want to understand them and understand their destination. Moving on from that point, I think there is no science in developing a design. Its you, your creativity and your computer.
Delivering the end result to my clients and seeing their satisfaction.
I don't believe in having a particular creative style. In my opinion, we have to adopt quickly to changes in the market, keep up with the latest trends, learn fast and apply new styles and techniques as we progress with time.
Not at all. I really don't have the time and interest to think what impact the country I live in has on my creativity process. I focus on my clients, my work and the end result.
I feel humbled and honoured to have been able to compete alongside some incredible creative individuals.
I have developed a new brand for a renowned aesthetic doctor based in the UK. Having heard about Muse Awards I wanted to give it a shot and see if I could make it to the winning podium.
It gives me more motivation to continue my work and become a better person day by day.
Diversity, Challenges, Satisfaction.
I think Artificial Intelligence will have a big impact on the creative industry. It may help or it may destroy it. All of it is in the hands of humanity and where our boundaries are.
Keep going, never give up and never compare yourself to others. Each creative is unique and has its own style and process. Keep hold of it and never let anyone tell you what you can or cannot do.
Since we live in the age of internet, there a plenty of free resources to learn from. Youtube and Instagram are my two spots to reach out for inspiration.
If I tell you then everyone will know :-)
There are many people and the list would be super long. I think Steve Jobs & Jony Ive this duo had the best approaches to solve design challenges and inspired me a lot.
I leave the words of wisdom to others, there are many people with interesting quotes. One thing that I would say is that you need to be yourself. Never let others change you. You and only you are unique. God put you on this planet for a reason, so don't try to be like others be you and stay unique. Don't let the internet influence you in a negative way. Don't think you need to keep up with a game that has no meaningful goal. Compete against yourself and stay positive everyday, be kind and help others where possible. Never put money in front of your goal. Stay real and keep smiling :-)
Three is not enough. I would nominate everyone I have met in the creative industry and ask to participate. Thanks to all those people I am here today, and won an award.
Thank you for this journey and experience
