Shot using DIY Infrared Converted Cameras, the images are a representation of a long-term project that illustrates the iconic landmarks situated in the heart of New York city. The utilization of infrared rays are vital in demonstrating the details of these architectures that are not normally seen with the naked eye, presenting the primal beauty without disturbances.

Circe | Bernd Schirmer (Amateur/Student)
Bernd has based her concept on Greek mythology, reviving Circe (or Kirke), the ancient Greek sorceress from the myths of Homer’s Odyssey. The backstory of this particular image revolves around the usage of symbolism, as the photograph has numerous stories to tell to its’ viewers. Each element incorporated in the picture carries deep interpretations of the photographer, waiting for someone who bears similar beliefs and ideas.
As the Photographer of the Year, Bernds’ work is definitely up there with the best of the industry, with limitless room for improvement. Being at the peak isn’t easy, and it definitely will only get harder from here with the inspiration other photographers have obtained through the success of “Circe”.
