Formica Group pioneered a pattern by the name of Birchbark, a progressive way for interior designers and architects to incorporate nature into spaces as part of its 2022 SurfaceSet® Collection. The Birchbark Design Story exhibits how the pattern that came to be turned from an inspiration to an execution produced entirely by the team.
The design came to mind when walking around the woods for inspiration and was embodied in the design story video to fully illustrate the inspiration process. The video also comprises of the commercial interior design trends of the biophilic design with natural materials which contain inspirational and natural elements like moss and the lenticular slits in the bark.
To preserve the part of the environment and not inflict any sort of harm, a small crew was assembled on the scene. As for the ambiance, the scattered light that was evidently present in the video created an atmospheric walk through the woods and produced a sense of appreciation for nature that was further pressed by including the colours of the forest – the moss, the bark and the earth.
The final production of the video is then used across Northern America and is widely displayed on the Formica Website for its campaigns, social media and in sales presentations to truly illustrate the Birchbark design to its customers. The awe-inspiring video was awarded with a Gold Medal from the 2022 NYX Video Awards under the category of Branded Content – Cinematography/ Videography.
