Photographer Dariusz D. Galon expressed that studying fine arts, he was always drawn to old paintings and old masters as it constructed strong moods in addition to utilizing dramatic lights to fully display a story through paintings of group portraits. The challenge of creating art as a photographer is always challenging as they are ever-willing to push the boundaries and see where it leads them.
The professional photographer captured a series of masterpieces which includes several models in group portraits that are typical for old paintings. Creating a dynamic, dramatic but a soft light that resembled Rembrandt’s paintings consisted of vivid characters touching of grotesque. Paintings by Brouwer, one would notice the classical compositions on Titian canvases and observe a dynamic interaction between the characters on Caravaggio’s works.
After several failed attempts, D.Galon finally found a way to create such a lighting that mood that perfectly captures old portraits of yesteryear and managed to create a series of masterpieces to grace the 2022 New York Photography Awards and was a Category Winner under the category of Fine Art Photography – Portrait.
